Honestly surfing can't be simulated with another sport in my opinion, maybe using a local skatepark and a gravity board if your a long boarder. Shortboarder just skateboard. Than there is always the thing I use, just use an indo board. I love indoboards because of the ease they give and the training, to practice some balance on em after you've mastered it just ride it diagnoly. Indo boards do ru in the bit expensive range. $120 is what I paid for mine, but I bought mine about 3 years ago, I really suggest indo boards. Extrememly helpful. I'll try and research some other ways and e-mail you. I forget the name but there are fake wave-riders I don't know the direct name anymore. Just research artificial wave riders in annapolis, Maryland. This way you get some actual surfing done, it's just like surfing only in an indoor enviorment. I hope this helps, sorry you can't surf anymore but, get a 6mm thick wetsuit it'll be cold but, you can surf if you're dedicated. Hope this helped. =D

Annapolis is not that far from the Maryland & Delaware beaches. check surfline.com for the surf reports for those states and then go surfing. Winter is the best time to surf big waves if you don't mind the cold water. The waves last week up and down the coast were unreal!

There are three different sports that get most of their moves for surfing: Snowboarding, Windsurfing, and Skateboarding. Skateboarding is exactly like surfing because your feet can leave the board at anytime.

you should have a go at snowboarding, skateboarding or longboarding which is basically a skateboard that is about 48 inches long and you can perfect cross stepping, hang 10's and many other longboarding tricks

When I leave the coast, I normally skateboard. Also, I like to snowboard as well. So try those.
