I recently bought a new PS2 after my old one had died. However, when I try to put in a DVD, it wants me to enter a password. I do, and it works, but everytime I want to watch a movie it wants to change to level of the Parental Controls. I want to turn it off permanently, but I can't access 'Parental Controls' from Custom Settings from the PS2 DVD Player setup. How will I access this? Thanks for your help in advance.

playstation 2 features an easy to use parental control function.

to use it, simply follow these steps:
-with a DVD in the ps2, push [select] to bring up the on screen control panel
-push [X] to select the setup icon
-use the direction pad to reach the "custom setup" menu, and push the [X] button

1) On the main menu of the PSP. Go to the Settings on the cross media bar. 2) Go down to the security settings and select Parental control level. Enter in your PIN number to proceed. (This will be 0000 for the first time and you will be able to alter this) 3) Once the pin number has been entered you can set the control to 1 through 11. 4) Once you have made your selection press O to exit out and from here you will be able to play your media content and some media content if you have selected a low option will be restricted from use and will state this when entered.

What you need to do is after you put in the password and the movie is playing you need to push 'select' on the remote, it should bring up a menu with 0-9 on the top line and some other like icons in the bottom 3 lines. The icon you have selected will be blue. You need to go to the bottom right row and click on the square which is stop by pushing 'X' on the remote. You may need to push 'X' a couple times until it is no longer blue and it will turn grey. At that point go up to the 2nd row 3 icons from the right, it looks like a little suitcase, and click on it, it displays SETUP and the bottom of the menu by pushing 'X'. That will bring up a setup menu. The icon on the far left has an 'A' and it is for Language Setup, the 2nd icon is for Screen Setup, the 3rd icon is a padlock for Custom Setup, and the 4th icon is a speaker for Audio Setup. You need to navigate to the 3rd icon by pushing the right arrow on your directional keys. The padlock will turn blue, now push the down arrow on you directional keys until the 'Parental Control' words turn blue, if these words are not blue it is because you did not select stop until it turned grey as I said on the first step. You may need to go back and do this and start over again, if the Parental Control letters do turn blue then push 'X, on the remote and it will ask you for you password, enter what ever you password is and the word 'Region' should turn blue. Push the down arrow on you directional keys until the word 'Level' turns blue and push 'X' on the remote. This should show you a little sub-menu with numbers 1-8 straight up and down and the word 'Off' above number '8'. Push the up arrow on the diretional keys until the word 'Off' is blue then push 'X' on the remote. After doing this is should say the word 'Off' beside the word 'Level' that is now blue again, push the left arrow on the directional keys until the words 'Parental Control' turn blue again, then keep pressing the 'Select' button on you remote until all of your menus are gone and you have an all black screen on you TV and then restart the PS2 by hitting the power button.

That should turn off your Parental Control. Please email me and let me know if this DID or DID NOT work for you. garycooley22@yahoo.com

Thanks and Good Luck!!!!!
