There is a rapidly growing body of scientific evidence (just go to Pubmed and search Vitamin D) that clearly indicates the current RDAs for vitamin D (200 - 600 IU) are too low for optimum health (not just bone health, but also immune functions and cancer prevention).

Recent studies have shown that daily intakes of 10,000 IU per day for 6 months in healthy adults was safe.

Most researchers now recommend a maintenance intake of 1000 to 2000 IU per day.

Best wishes and good luck.

That's a little too much.

The science on Vitamin D is changing - we're discovering that higher doses of it can be beneficial - but science hasn't yet determined what the right dose is for people.

The current FDA recommended daily allowance ranges from 200 IU to 600 IU per day depending on your age - much less than the 2000 you suggest.

Four monthly supplementation with 100 000 IU oral vitamin D may prevent fractures without adverse effects in men and women living in the general community.
so 2000IU a day means 60000 a month sao it should be fine and its not too much for the bone density.
