The Bible was written in good faith many years ago, and since then the good book has been tarnished by 15 editing jobs by less-than-pure editors, including the gay tyrant King James on the last hack job. Read it as a positive message but not as a quotable source.

The bible is God breathed, written by His chosen writers.
Mind you I speak of only the King James Version and I have just recently noticed even the new writings of the KJV have words missing that are very important to the messages meaning.

Honestly...I have become very disappointed with what I have seen lately because of how God's word is becoming distorted. I personally through a move lost my original bible and have been using the Internets KJV which I'm not pleased with.

We must trust it. I remember when I watch CNN-YouTube Republican Debate, one guy asked the candidates for President. Showing the Holy Bible he asked them this question- "Do you believe this book?". And the moderator asked Mike Huckabee, a Baptist minister, to answer the question, and he answered- "Yes, I believe the bible. It is the revelation of our infinite God to us." And he received a big applause from the audience.

Everything we do, everyday we live and everytime we act should be according to the will of God. And how can we know the will of God? It is by the sacred scriptures. It is the book that God revealed himself to us by His son, Jesus Christ.

Reading the scriptures is knowing God and His words. His words are the key of our world's progress and peace. We are sometimes blind to the wonders of God and deaf to His words.

You are also asking who wrote it. There are so many people who wrote it. The word Bible is from the greek word biblios which means books. The bible is composed of many books.
Ultimately, above the human authors, the bible was written by God.

The Bible is a partial history of God's actions written by men as they were inspired by the Hloy Spirit(God) telling what God did to save His people and how we are to live. Yes I trust the Bible and what it says.

I don't trust it overall. the torah was as selectively edited as was the current bible at the council of nicea. from genisis on it's full of contradictions. it also contradicts history, culture and common sense. it's only real and practical value has been as a guide for military campaigns by soldiers fighting in those areas. each book was written by men who had learned to write and were religious or poltical leaders and had the clout to be believed by extremely superstitious masses.

organized religion was created to control the masses, still used for that. Those who were in power at the time the bible was put together are the ones who decided what should go in the bible and what should be burned. The greatest gift you can give yourself is an openmind, search always for the truths.

It matters little who wrote it.

What is important is who compiled it, who translated it and who edited it.

Why were certain texts excluded.

Why did Paul include pagan ideas that Jesus never taught.

By the time you get these questions answered you will know if you can trust anything that the bible says.

i dont take the bible 100% seriously. i believe in god. but im believing in my own feelings about god, not what some old guys said he was like 734735743 years ago [not really that long ago but you get it]

i mean lets look at the facts:
*it was written 753174832 years AFTER the events happened

*it was written based on stories that were passed down for 347320974 years [ever played telephone where you get in a circle and say one thing and after it gets back to you its completely different? same thing]

* its been translated 89345784 times [again...telephone, except imagine this time your playing with germans, russians, arabians, africans, spanish, and french]

so as for me, i dont take the bible to heart like some people

The greatest majority of it yes. There are books mentioned that are missing, but the bible is true about 98% of the time. a few words were interpreted incorrectly but they do not effect the message too much. If one follows the precepts, one can enherit eternal life.

The bible was taken from different cultures and texts some close to 6000 years old. Most of it is plagerized, to use a modern word, but there are some things to consider in it.
