I believe without religion we would totally be lost,
but than again its destroying us.
Gah. Religion is an iffy thing.
When it comes down to it we are all sensitive on the subject.

See what I mean there are so many different answers. I wish we could all believe in one thing, one person... that would totally help a little when it comes to war. Anyone agree?

Religion has elected its self the supreme earthly authority on two subjects that it knows absolutely nothing about, God and the afterlife. If we look at the various religions it is beyond obvious that they don’t agree about who God is. Nearly all of them claim to be the one and only correct path to God.

The one truth that remains constant is that the definition of God that they have come up with is little more than a mirror image of the particular set of biases and prejudices of the group the religion represent. Can this be just a coincidence?

With all of the various renderings of God by all of the different religions we can draw only a very few conclusions about God. Either God is a pathological liar who tries to be all things to all people or God is hopelessly schizophrenic. Personally I see too much beauty in the world to accept either of these conclusions.

To me it seems far more likely that religion is just a lie that people tell about God.

Lucky for us this lie we call religion does not effect the real God in any way.

Love and blessings Don

I think faith and belief are a lot more important than an actual religion. When I hear of the word 'religion' I think of a group of people with similar beliefs and customs almost like a culture in itself. The thing with me, though, is that I love learning about all different religions and I can't stick with just one section. I believe that there's a force out there like God or Fate or something. I don't have a name for what I believe, I just have faith. That's the most important thing thing to have in any religion, because why are you doing it if you don't believe in it? Faith is also the common element in all of them; even in atheists or people without religions. They HAVE FAITH that what they see is what they get.

So bascially my view on religion is this; 'It's the thought that counts' (and how you act on those thoughts, of course).

I think that religion has helped a lot of people, as well as hurt a lot of people. I think if we attempted to throw out religion, man would create another one. It is impossible for whole civilizations to go without some religious belief. We are ritualistic people, therefore we will create it no matter how much people try to destroy it. Even if the religions that we know today do not survive, something else will come into play. Or at least that is what I believe.

multi answer.

Without religion we would not be lost, without God however we are all lost!. As don is quoting religion confuses people with a myriad of high purposed claims, religion has multiplied like a cancer cell.
However Jesus Christ did not tell his twelve disciples to preach and teach a religion not at all, with no pomp no robes no finery no fantastic building no ceremony's and no idols Jesus simply told them to tell what they had witnessed Jesus do for people and to people, to prove that god will keep his followers for a special reward in a new world. He came amongst men in a humble fashion to tell us what is to happen and how it will happen, and in doing so he fulfilled all the numerous Prophesies told about the Messiah and his miracles thousands of years before.

There are different types of religion, but only one relationship with God through Jesus. I think we are sensitive because we all have a special space within us that is meant to be only filled by God. We tend to go into all different directions before we find it also. Until our spiritual eyes are opened we cannot fully understand the plan that God has designed for His creation.

Everybody wants an answer to what they don't understand. Where did we come from? How long have we been here? Who's in control of my life? Etc etc etc. Religion is the cause of many a death... terrorists, wars, etc. You don't see too many atheists out killing people. Religion is peace for some and hogwash for others.

If you think of religion as a subject rather than something to devote yourself into then ok, soul searching makes sense, we all have questions about God and the like. But when it comess to my views are better than yours or this is the only true way etc, then religion can be divisive.

I think that religion is important to complete the life of a person, but I do not think that anyone should judge a person solely on their religion. Religion in my life is important, and I think that the basic things that everybody should follow is just being a good person, and helping others in every way possible.

At the very least, religion is a crutch for us and is a great way to teach our children morality.

At the very best, religion is a way for us to be closer to our higher power and understand the way the world works. It could give us a sense of meaning, of purpose, and of greater good.

The truth? It is most likely somewhere in between.
