It all depends on what you are willing to give up, if he does ask you to. Like he did with Abraham. God knows the very thing that keeps us from having a right relationship with him, our faith will be tried to determine our position with God. It all boils down to making the right choice, for God will not force a person, but try the person to see whether he/she will trust in him more than trusting in man or other things. And if you know that there are things that are keeping you from having a right relationship with God, things that are not pleasing to God or things that you are holding on to that cause a stumbling block between you and God, pray and ask God to give you the strength to do what is right and to help you make the right decision, and to be wise in doing it.

This is an excellent question. It is hard because most of society does things we are not suppose to do and it's all about our up bringing. Honestly, I feel like the answer to this question is yes, but I feel so guilty because I'm always breaking the rules. Then I claim I'm a christian or I love God.
We are all humans and God knows we were meant to sin.
We are all sinners(it's in the Bible).

Yes because having a right relationship with God means that Jesus is "Lord" of your life. Besides that, God only tells you to give up things that are not good for you because He loves you.

If you offer yourself wholey to God, being willing to give up your will and accept His will 100% of the time, sometimes it means not doing what you want. Sometimes as humans we can't see the bigger picture that God can. We don't understand why He'd have us go through desert seasons. It just wouldn't make sense to us as humans--we'd rather avoid desert times. Yet God has reasons for them. And to surrender our lives to Him fully, means trusting God and jumping head first into the desert, trusting that God will take us out to the other side, to the mountain of God.

No, you only give up the things that are displeasing to Him. When one willingly comes to Him, he cleanse them up from the inside out. No more cursing, drugs, alcohol, smoking, sex outside of marriage, porn, gambling, hatred, envy, jealousy, religion, and He gets rid of the demons that had deceived us. We are then FREE to live and communicate with God and be anointed as true kings to rule and reign with Christ. We are given a clean slate with no guilt of the past. We are new creations without any fear of dying or death. We are given a new body, a new name, a new home in heaven. We are given crowns for the service we've done telling others of Christ' love and his coming Kingdom on this earth in which we shall rule and reign for 1000 years and we are given power, dominion and authority over the devil, sin, sickness, poverty, and physical and spiritual death. So what are you holding on to that is worth more than the cleansing blood of the Lamb? How much do you value you own soul? Is it worth those things that defile it and pollute it and to make ones bed in hell? Your life is so much more valuable, and this is why God sent Christ to die, so that you could come into His presence boldly and as His child and to request your hearts desire and to know that God as Your Father will meet your every need..Who could forfeit this kind of love? Only a fool..

God has given us all the gift of free will. To do His will is enough. We don't have to give anything up. Whatever we we have is a gift from God anyway so why give it up?

If you have the right relationship with God, your life is already a constant sacrifice. Paul already said, everything I want to do, I don't do it, and what I don't want to do, this I do.
Jesus said to take up our cross daily and follow Him, this is the sacrifice that He wants us to do. It is only a sacrifice because it goes against our sinful will, if we were perfect, we would not struggle with it.

Well, yeah, but what might you think He's asking you to give up? remember, He came so that we may have life, and have it more ABUNDANDLY. what could he be asking you to give up? does it cause you to sin? does it disturb your right standing with God in any way? If Jesus were to come knocking at your door would you open up and invite Him in without any shame at all? Well He's here, and He's been here, and He wants in to every room of your heart. invite Him to open and enter any and every door that He desires, after all, all He wants to do is clean it up for you.

Yes it is an oximoron to say "no LORD" but as previously stated God won't ask you to give up something in order to hurt you or deprive you . He usually asks you to give up something that will hurt you or that has become an idol to you.

Yes ma'am. Just be sure that when you think you're hearing God telling you to give something up, that it is Him and not coming from people. How to be sure? Follow the Bible.
