I've been on both ends of this for many years, and have NEVER had anyone press charges. I suppose you could trump up a vandalism charge, but it's so rare, it makes news if anyone presses charges. I've sent my kids off with a case of TP from Costco in the past (unfortunately, someone tipped off the people in the house, and they got sprayed with a hose).

So the answer is yes, it is technically illegal because it can be classified as vandalism. However, the reality is that it's very common in high school and middle school, and nobody ever presses charges (hardly ever, anyway).

The law varies by city.

Check out this site. It's rather funny.

Explains in depth about tp-ing.

Have fun! And whether or not its legal in your city, it's best to not get caught! In Burbank, CA it is not a crime. But we sure do hate when it happens!

I dont think so (its called Vandlism) and if you are caught
it could be jail time (or the owner could sue you)
