Yes! The swastika belonged to the Hindus in the first place. The only reason people think it's a bad symbol is because of Hitler.
The students in my humanities class were talking about a Nazi symbol engraved in the desk, and I thought "That's a swastika." I was really confused when that happened.

yes they are right.
But juts so u know....Aryan race did not come from Hinduism. Hinduism existed long before in the Dravidian race even before Aryans came to India. A lot of ppl do not know this. So the Swastika might be a purely Aryan symbol nuthing to do with Hinduism.

the hindu swastika is flipped, it is the opposite of the nazi swastika. the arms face the other way.
and hindus did not invent the concept of the aryan race, nor did they claim aryans were the master race or any such nonsense.
you hear the phrase "aryan race" associated with the subcontinent in reference to foreigners invading from the north, with lighter skin than the very dark skinned people in the south. today, you can still see a difference in skin color, but in the north they are certainly not blond and blue-eyed. the term is used historically, not in the same way the nazis used it.

Yes. Hitler hijacked it in connection with Economics in Hinduism (Germany was in a poor economic state of affairs) and its true meaning has been perverted to Hitler's agenda.
It really does mean peace and the article is right and sensitive in that it seeks the approval of Jews and considerate to their needs and feelings, considering that this symbol was used against them and to be feared. They are the world's victims and if Hindus want to reclaim it they must have the consent of the Jewish community. The two communities must work together to turn 'negative back into positive'.
The Jewish community play an integral part in this and if they feel strongly opposed to this reclamation and reintroduction then we must all respect their views and 'let sleeping dogs lie'.
Now, I think this is the most sensible idea. Anyone else agree?

The swastika was originally a Hindu symbol for peace...the Nazis perverted its meaning into one of hatred and intolerance. Unfortunately, when most people see a swastika, they assume Neo-Nazi.
I think it is just fine for Hindus to try to reclaim the swastika and spread the true meaning behind it.
