Does it say we shouldn't consult physicians, only pray to God or that we should pray to God first, then, if necessary, consult a physician?

Asa was a bad king, one who never sought god, this verse says that even in grave illness he didn't seek god.... it does not teach against medicine, it reinforces that Asa never sought god.

A large context is important....

King Asa was not a good king for he was prideful and did not seek the Lord for good counsel.
We are called to bring God into our lives 100% of the time for ALL things. Even the physician and his knowledge is from God's Hand. When you are going to the doctor you pray to God on the way.
God wants us in fellowship. Treat God as your dearest, closest friend - you should not get sick feet becasue of it.

Charles Swindoll teaches an excellent lesson on this topic. Essentially, he concludes that scripture instructs us to seek medical help, but the help of God (from whom *all* healing comes) as well. Thus, Asa's fault was not on relying on physicians, but rather on relying on physicians to the exclusion of God, from whom *all* good things come.

Hey Moony !

(2Ch 16:12) And in the thirty-ninth year of his reign, Asa was diseased in his feet, until his disease was very grievous. Yet in his disease he did not seek to Jehovah, but to the physicians.

Did YOU... MISS.... THESE..... FIRST? 2Chronicles..... 16:one-to-tweleve? ? ?

Asa.... did NOT trust in GOD..... BUT... sent Monies...See Verse 2... and Paid FOR AN ARMY.... INSTEAD OF TRUSTING... GOD! .....See Verse 7-to-10 !

MOST OF THE TIME..... "Your Answer".... is Either Before... or... After the SINGLE TEXT.... you quoted!

2Ch 16:7 And at that time Hanani the seer came to Asa king of Judah and said to him, Because you have relied on the king of Syria, and have not relied on Jehovah your God, therefore the army of the king of Syria has escaped out of your hand.
2Ch 16:8 Were not the Cushites and the Libyans a huge army with many chariots and horsemen? Yet, because you relied on Jehovah, he delivered them into your hand.
2Ch 16:9 For the eyes of Jehovah run to and fro in all the whole earth to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is perfect toward Him. You have done foolishly in this; therefore from now on you shall have wars.
2Ch 16:10 And Asa was angry with the seer and put him in a prison-house. For he was in a rage with him because of this. And Asa oppressed some of the people at that time.

No.
It was a matter of his heart condition. Compare that verse with this one

Jer 17:5 This is what Jehovah has said: “Cursed is the able-bodied man who puts his trust in earthling man and actually makes flesh his arm, and whose heart turns away from Jehovah himself.

Turning away from God means stopping to trust in him, to trust ENTIRELY in our own strength.

So, don't stop going to the doctor's when you need to.
