It is the release from this physical body and life --- at an old age, it is to escape the fragile old body which does not function anymore. It is always the transformation to that of the spirit - to go back from whence we came.
I haven't read all the info at www.figu.org (English Discussion Forum) about this, as it is scattered everywhere? there...

I think it says - the life on Earth, is our active cycle, and the afterlife is our recuperation period - and that all our learning, etc is done here.. and yes - reincarnation happens. You can't escape it.

It means that the Life Lessons for this incarnation have been learned and it is time to leave this body, cross the veil and await my next set of Lessons.

It means leaving the nonsense of this world and entering eternity in God's presence. I should see it in 20 years or so.

it means I have to look at myself and try not to be an idiot in making life choices cause I don't want to go to hell. It also means I'm finally free from this life, all the unfairness and pain and misery that I feel like it causes me

Death would hopefully mean eternal life in Heaven with God. Only He knows His criteria, but I have to believe He would want me there.
