I'm Jewish and although I try to understand others and their religion/customs/etc. I never have been able to understand the Christian belief that in order to get to heaven or to be close to God you need to accept his "son" as your saviour. If Jesus is God and God is Jesus then why the need to accept the son if he is the father. And I've never ran accross a single Christian who has been able to explain this to me, maybe your the first?

Wired: "According to Hebrews, Christ is the final sacrifice."
A lot of the Jewish People believe in a messiah, "I believe with perfect faith in the coming of the messiah." But our messiah will be human, in no way, shape or form divine. Our messiah will bring peace not begin his own religion nor sacrifice himself since we are all judged on our individual sins.

As a practicing Jew, I believe in one God, not in a son and not in a holy spirit. God is my salvation, and God only.

If Jesus is God and God is Jesus, then if you don't have one, you don't have the other. How can you say you know your wife, for instance, if you don't acknowledge and love a major part of her, a part of her that defines who she is?
If you say you know God, you must know Jesus. If you don't know Jesus, then you can't know God. Father, Son, Holy Spirit...three in one. You must have all to have one.

According to Hebrews, Christ is the final sacrifice- an end to the need for the high priest to go into the Holy of Holies every year and offer sacrifices for the sins of the people. When His sacrifice was complete, the old system had been fully and completely nullified. Christ Himself became the High Priest that did away with the shadow of the former and imperfect practice of offering forgiveness to the people. In this, Christ's sacrifice has become the perfect and acceptable sacrifice before God for all of time until the end (whenever that is.). This is why there is no other way to the "father" (creator) and eternal salvation.

They are 3 in 1, the same way as a mother, father, and child are 3 different people with 3 different roles but make up one family. Because people are so far away from god and sin so much, we are not worthy to come to god on our own... but through Jesus we can. The reason is because Jesus was the unspotted lamb, the sacrifice for our sins. We must get forgiveness in the name of Jesus, become sinless and then be able to come to god. God demands blood for life, that is where the sacrifice comes in... I don't completely understand it either, but there isn't anything wrong with learning as much as you can right!? So did that make sense? I hope so...
Good luck

it is more so that you have to accept the sacrifice that Jesus made while he was here on earth. See in the begining atonement from sins was brought through sacrificing a lamb unto God. Christians believe Jesus is the lamb of God. the final sacrifice to be made for forgivness... so there was no longer a need for any other sacrifce because he willingly paid the price for our sins. Through the acceptance of him we can have forgiveness of our sins. Because we all not that God is holy so in order to commune with him we must be sinless and holy.... but we are humans and screw ups and could never really attain that. SO Jesus said I'll make the sacrifice, so that through him we can be forgiven and have access to the father. What you really don't understand is the concept of the trinity. God in three persons. The father, the son and the holy spirit. That may be more what you need explained.
Although I am 100% christian... many people do not accept the trinity. The don't believe Jesus is God. they continue that he is the son of God. is only begotten son. The bible says for God so loved the World he gave his only begotten son. Modern Christians just group Jesus, God and the Holy spirit together as the trinity. what they did before now i dunno. But in order to fully explain the trinity to you in a way that would be accurate and understandably I would have to be a biblical theologin.

Greek theologists organized Christianism with 3 godnesses – God, Son and Holy Ghost.
And the Early Middle Age added a fourth godness: Maria.
And the Curch Fathers recruted a heaven staff of numerous Angels and Saints.

While I am not a Christian, I agree that the non-Trinitarian view of God seems more sensible. You might want to look at the non-Trinitarian versions of Christianity.
I would suggest looking into these Christian churches which are all non-Trinitarian: Jehovah's Witnesses, Christadelphians, Bible Students, American Unitarian Conference, Arian Catholic Church, Oneness (or Apostolic) Pentecostal, UU (Unitarian Universalist) Christian Fellowship, etc. Swedenborgianism (look up Swedenborg on Wikipedia) was also non-Trinitarian. I also believe the churches that sprang from Herbert Armstrong and retained his teachings are also non-Trinitarian (or unitarian - small "u").
While it is true that LDS Mormons do not believe in the Trinity, they have a doctrine of Godhead and eternal progression which is more polytheistic than monotheistic.

The godhead is comprised of THREE in ONE. God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.
God the SON put on human flesh and came into the world to die for the sins of mankind. "Without the shedding of blood there is NO forgiveness of sins." He is the ONE who satisfied the justice of the godhead by paying the wages of sin, which is DEATH. God satisfied His own justice in order to save those who will place their trust in the SIN BEARER.
As a Jew, you should understand the concept of atonement. The issue is that today, the Nation Israel has no "special status" with God. She is "lo ammi", or NOT MY PEOPLE. God has divorced her for her lack of fidelity to Him. The Nation Israel , God says, has been "concluded in UNBELIEF (with the Gentiles) so that God might have mercy upon ALL."
Today, Jew and Gentile alike come to God thru the Crosswork of GODS sacrificial lamb. Your sacrificial system of old was a mere shadow of the reality of God providing a sacrifice FOR YOU.One that would not have to be repeated year after year, but that would pay for all the sins of all the people for all time. What the blood of bulls and goats could NOT do, the blood of Christ DID. We are told that HIS blood didn't just atone for sins for a YEAR, but took away sins forever! Quite an improvement over the yearly sacrificial system of old, yes?
God did for all of us , what we could NOT do for ourselves. He became the spotless lamb that took away the sins of the world.
God will resume His program with the Nation Israel, after 'the fullness of the Gentiles is come in". Those who believe NOW, will be members of the Body of Christ and have their destination in heaven.
I hope this helps.

A) try to sort the heathen names out of the conversation. It will simplify things. B) the almighty is a spirit. And thus Michael (one like the Elohim) is also a spirit. In order to establish the absolute nature of right and wrong, it was agreed that the wages of sin is death. Unless you remain connected to the Almighty, you will die. Now if I die, I am gone. Since I am born less than perfect, (My parents can't pass on to me something they didn't have) then I am condemned to die. My only out is if someone is willing to pay that price, and die in my place. And, if any other person died for me, He would be gone. None less than the Almighty (Elohim) could die for all of us. Substitutionary (VICARIOUS) atonement. Since Elohim must die, in order for the world (universe) not to collapse when Elohim died, then there must be two. Messiah is called the "SON" of Elohim, but there was no mother, so I guess it was cloning. Since Messiah YAHOSHUA died for me it is real clear that He really cares for me. He said I could pray to the Father. Either works. Here is a visual aid: Think of the tree of life. Under the ground the roots grow together. Up in the air the branches grow together. It is one tree. We see two trunks. The two Elohim are one also in a greater sense than husband and wife are one. Yet, at the same time, they are two. When Messiah was here He prayed to His Father. Salvation is like a marriage contract offered from YHVH: Take His name, follow His rules, you become part of the "bride" of Messiah, and He will save you in the end. (It sounds very generous to me, but most folks refuse it) Hope that helps a little. e-mail me if you want.

youre asking the question in the wrong manner.
you should first define why people call jesus god, and yet jesus claimed to be the son of God but at the same time confirmed that he is the: "i am"
its like comparing The Word, which is jesus, to the word, which is scripture.
the scriptures are not alive but jesus is alive. You can't say the bible is jesus but it is called the word.
You can call the bible an idolatry depending on how you define idolatry and how a person uses the scriptures.
but you are correct Jesus proclaimed that in order to see the Father, that he himself would show him unto those that seek him. seek and ye shall find.
joseph smith jr. testified that he saw Jesus and God the Father side by side.
but people have spoken of joseph smith jr bot good and evil for 180 years.
when moses said he saw God face to face was it God? or was he the i am.
when job said he talked with God was there not 2 different persons that are mentioned as being God and LORD.?
you also have to define what the godhead really means. is the godhead only 3 beings that govern the entire universe? what about all the saviours on mt sion spoken of in obadiah? if there are many saviours and there are many planets, than 3 govern each planet. but God rules and governs above all the sons of god and saviours.
i dont know if this is correct but this is my opinion on studying the matter.
moses had a freindship with the LORD god, the same person as the: I am. the I am sits on the throne of God with all authority and power and judgment because God the FAther who gave the son the thrown knows the son will judge righteously.
the promise is extended to all of us who overcome that we will inherit all things and even the throne of God too. Now whether that means there is only one throne in all of the heavens and the galaxy and the universe thats another question but it shows to me that there is patriarchy and heirarchal priesthood that becomes the godhead.
now the godhead may consist of all the angels in heaven or just a limited group of angels thart are more sanctifed and justifed than others. but at least one scholar has taught that the godhead comprises of at least three different types of angels. and jesus said that when men are resurrected they become like the angels.

There is no way to God but through Jesus. Jesus died for us and so our sins can be forgiving, just like sin enter through one man disobedience (Adam). Adam let the devil deceive him and he became a slave to sin through the father of all lies (Satan). Jesus came to set us Free from sin because he was a Man with out sin (holy) but took upon our sins when he died for us. He didn't deserve to died because he was holy but he became a sacrifice for us. Therefore we are set free through our Lord Jesus Christ. Jesus could of easily got up and called fire from heaven on those man who put him to death but he chose to be a sacrifice for us because he loves us that much. And Jesus is the Messiah, Immanuel, Alpha & Omega, King of Kings Lord of Lords, Prince of Peace, Saviour of the World, The Way, Bread of Life , Holy & Righteous One, Lord of Glory, The Most Holy, The Truth, And The Word of God. U Be Bless In Jesus Mighty Name.

All through the old testament there were sacrifices and traditions. And prophesy of the Savior. God became flesh through Jesus Christ. He was the ultimate sacrifice to live and die a sinless life. Now he is fully God again. God is Holy and the only way we can truly have a relationship with him is through the Holy spirit. We are all like filthy rags until God sees us through the sacrificed blood of Jesus. Come to the cross my friend and meet Jesus. Its all about truth. And what is in your heart. God bless
