That's not as simple an answer as "she ascended into heaven." Mary did die, of natural causes, likely at an old age. Jesus bore her spirit to Heaven after her body died. Three days later he returned, when angels carried her physical body to Heaven.

JESUS ascended into Heaven, not Mary. She was carried to Heaven by angels (assumption). Jesus ascended to Heaven of his own power (ascencion).

We observe the Feast of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary into Heaven, which celebrates the departure of Mary from this life by her natural death, and her assumption bodily into heaven. Still, it's important to recognize that the Bible contains no scriptures or passages about the assumption of Mary into heaven. It wasn't discussed or introduced into dogma until the 6th century AD. The Assumption of Mary was NOT part of the original teachings.

How did Virgin Mary die?

The virgin Mary did NOT die. Mary, Jesus' earthly mother, did. After bearing Jesus, she married Joseph, and had more children. She is NO LONGER A VIRGIN.

I think the real question being asked, is : " What is the sin that Mary committed , other than being born into sin ..., to die ; since death is the retribution to sin. Yet somehow , you have to have two ways of looking at death , its either a punishment , or the only way to get to The Kingdom. She definitely was NOT a "Regular" human , to be in "God's favor" ; Even though He has used even the crookedest of crooks to end up doing the right things out of all people.

No real conclusive evidence from history or the Bible. She is last seen in the Book of Acts (Acts 1:14) immediately after the Ascension. Catholic teaching asserts that when she died, she was immediately "assumed" or taken up into heaven. Other teachings assert that she underwent "dormition" or sleep. Her place of death has been named as either Ephesus or Jerusalem.

Mary thus has the honor of being the first human being, after Jesus, to experience the transformed life that is our destiny.

I read once, somewhere, that she was following the way of the cross one day, and when she came to one of the stations, she felt in her heart a joy so great, her body could no longer bear it, and there she died, on the streets of Jerusalem. I think she was quite old, probably in her 70's. Because of her state of purity and the burden her body bore, her body could not remain on this plane of deterioration.

(addendum) using a gift of bi-location, she was able to visit many places during her life. Spain is one place she is reputed to have visited in this fashion. That is probably why so many people claim to have had her visit their country.

I don't think the Bible mentions it. But all we know is that she's in heaven now.
