It simply means if you do something bad to someone, you will have something bad happen to you. If you do good, it will be returned.
sort of like the first person said, "what comes around goes around" or "for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction". Sort of.
Karma doesn't always come back right away, some people even believe you can be paying now for 'sins' in a previous life.

Karma or kamma is the condition of action and consequence. Say action and reaction.
You touch your nose - you feel the touching at your nose.
You run and you will have to breathe in a lot because your body burns a lot of oxygen so you need to breathe in a lot.
Now you understand simple and logical application of kamma.
From simple condition to complex condition, kamma acts the same.
So kamma is action and effect.
You have asked a question and posted it here. So people see it and answer for it. You get the answers - now you have to decide which one to choose. It's up to you to get the right answer - if you choose the wrong one, you will get the wrong idea.
Life is the consequence of the craving for life. This is why beings are in life-cycle: birth, age and death; and again be born because you didn't remove the condition that could make you to be reborn; as existing now, you have to age or getting older and older; because of that you have to die because your body cannot keep on againg eternally.
Somebody (person 1) made somebody else (person 2) angry and that angry person kept in mind for a revenge. As being revenged, person 1 got angry and kept in mind to revenge the person 2 and when the person 1 got the chance, another revenge was done to the person 2 and the person 2 got angry again. Well, this story goes on this way endlessly, life after life even; therefore, both of them suffer.
And now a person 1 loved another person 2 so the person 2 kept in mind to give that love back one day. The person 1 got the love he gave to the person 2 as the person 2 gave the person 1 back so the person 1 kept in mind to give that love back. And this story goes on this way.
Well, there are many other conditions of kamma. If you're really interested, please go on finding the answers from both Buddhism and Hinduism.

Karma (Sanskrit: kárma (help·info), kárman- "act, action, performance"[1]; Pali: kamma) is the concept of "action" or "deed" in Indian religions understood as that which causes the entire cycle of cause and effect (samsara) described in Hindu, Jain, Sikh and Buddhist philosophies.
The philosophical explanation of karma can differ slightly between traditions, but the general concept is basically the same. It is usually understood as a sum of all that an individual has done, is currently doing and will do. The results or 'fruits' of actions are called karma-phala. Karma is not about retribution, vengeance, punishment or reward; karma simply deals with what is. The effects of all deeds actively create past, present and future experiences, thus making one responsible for one's own life, and the pain and joy it brings to others. In religions that incorporate reincarnation, karma extends through one's present life and all past and future lives as well.

Karma - the result you get for the things you've done. If you led a righteous life, your karma is good, and it will pay you back. If you did bad things, karma is bad, and you're gonna have a lotta troubles on your way.
