I'm not talking about dreams involving unicorns or billions of dollars falling from the sky. For example, sometimes if I fall asleep while reading a book, my dream continues where the book left off, and when I wake up and start reading the book again, I get really confused because I think that the part that I dreamt about was actually in the book. Why is this?

dreams are actually a subconsicous state. most dreams are rooted from reality thus making it hard to distinguish real from fiction. especially with books because there is no split in activities. when you go to bed you just stop, close your eyes and your mind has to divvey up something to dream about versus when you fall alseep on a book your mind is already occupied

Dreams are similar to waking experience in some ways. One similarity is that we usually think of the current state that we're in, whether dreaming or sleeping, as the "real world." This is interesting in the case of dreams because sometimes things happen that would be extremely bizarre in the waking world (people flying, objects morphing into other objects, dead people reappearing, etc.), but our dreaming mind rationalizes these events as perfectly normal.

So your dreams might actually be extremely similar to your waking life, or you might just think this is the case while you're dreaming. If you look back more carefully, you may spot differences.

often times, i will distinguish a dream from certainty - humorous ingredient is the greater lifelike the dream i detect it greater handy to tell apart, those far far off from certainty i do no longer comprehend i'm dreaming. i might desire to be dreaming now, if i'm getting a hundred thumbs up and 50 down i'm dreaming.

Hummm. I have the same problem. I'm not absolutely positive that I'm not dreaming now. I think that perhaps you have a vivid imagination, but it's not unrealistic to question the roots of reality itself. We know less about it than you might think. Even thought itself. I'm never been able to find even a poor explanation of its actual mechanism.

that happens to me as well. sometimes i'll even dream about someone i know and in my dream i'll get really mad at them and when i wake up i'm still mad. i think the dream is just so realistic that it's hard to distinguish it from reality.

It's what was on your mind when you started dozing off, so your mind just continued as though you were still reading.... sometimes I would doze off while watching television, but dream that I was still watching....

the dark angel guy is actually serious i bet. but dreams being hard to distinguish isn't future tense, it's just an error in brain activity. you shouldn't worry about it. it is normal. you probably are not psychic......sorry.
