I was woundering if anyone knows anything about Doberman's and Schtzhund?

How active and successful is the breed in this sport?

I know GSD's are the #1 in the sport and that there are not a lot of Rott's, but I can't find much on Dobies.

The majority of Dobermans in this country are from show or backyard breeder type lines. They simply don't have the working drive for it any more. Same thing for Rotties. However, there are a few breeders that do breed for working ability. I would surf around on:

Get some opinions there as there are knowledgeable folks. Schutzhund was designed for German shepherds, but Malinois are actually often kicking GSD butt. ;-) They often have higher drive and less health problems. If you're just looking for a club level dog and you don't want to be competitive at the national level, you should be able to find a Dobe somewhere. If you *really* want a national level dog, it's going to be easier to do with a Malinois or GSD. Not to say that it cannot be done, but yeah...Good luck!

There are many Dobes that participate in this sport and do quite well. I would contact your local breed club to find more info on where there are schtzhund training classed nearest you or the DPCA for more info.
