Honestly, the easiest way for me to have learned in when it was in a praise song. They generally quote word for word, or nearly. Third Day is a good example. They quote alot. Either from songs, or repeatedly hearing it in church, is how i've learned it. Good luck.

One idea is to find your favorite verses. Write each on a small card and carry that around.
A good technique I used is to memorize some of the smaller new Testament Letters. You can a small pocket bible. Tear out the pages you want to memorized and use clear plastic laminate on them. Carry them around.
You memorized pretty fast when you do a letter. I find NIV is easy translation to memorize in.

Write down the verse that you want to remember with the reference on a small index card. Place it in a place where you will see it or put it in your pocket or purse. Make a habit of reciting it four or five times daily until you have it memorized. Make sure that you don't forget it by refreshing your memory once a week there after.

Sharing them with others.
For example, when preaching from door to door and elsewhere, people usually ask the same questions. So repeatedly opening the Bible to the same verses over and over engraves them in your mind.
I also memorize Scriptures that have special meaning to me, like those that promise a resurrection or that describe how Jehovah feels about us.

I think you'll find some verses which you'll have a deep natural instant connection to due to circumstances in your individual life or some other deep reasons. Those verses you'll be able to memorize in less than a minute without much effort ...you might feel as though you've read them before

Just read a scripture and write it down and take that piece of paper with you and keep repeating that verse over to yourself until it get in your spirit. You can also buy index cards to help you with your meditation. Write a scripture on each index card whenever you are reading the bible and read through the index cards daily. God speak to us through his word, as you begin to meditate on God's word he will begin to speak to you more and more. You be bless.

I've found just reading the Word is best. When u need the Word brought to remembrance the Holy Ghost will take over and bring scripture to mind.

something it is sound suggestion is worth taking to heart and memorizing. even with my matters with the Bible, it does incorporate some sturdy stuff. case in point the "To each and every thing there's a season" bit from Ecclesiastes. i think of what the Phelpses do, although, would not do the Bible any favours. they have memorized each and each verse that paints God as a sadist.

Hi!
I got this email *prayer for the day* this morning, and I had starred your question last night. Of course I had to pass it along, I hope it helps:
To Learn and Use God's Word
Father, I'm praying that Michellle and others in my circle of family and friends will desire to memorize Scripture...
Help them meditate on Your Word. Use it to transform and renew their minds, to show them the old they need to put off in their lives and the new truths and ways of life to put on. Help them to see and respect the Bible for the living and active Word i is, able to penetrate hearts and judge a person's thoughts and attitudes. (Psalm 119:78b; Romans 12:2; Ephesians 4:22-24; Hebrews 4:12)
May they find the discipline to learn Your Word and live by it— and may it keep their lives pure. Help them to live according to Your principles, holding Your Word in their hearts so they won't give in to temptation and sin against You. May they remember and apply Scriptures to their lives, for Your Word will set them free to say no to every temptation. (Psalm 119:9, 11, 112; John 8:32)
Help them to know and learn to use the Scriptures as effectively as Jesus did—to defeat Satan by quoting Scripture when he tries to tempt them. Help them be ready, learning verses that will bring victory over the temptations they face and lifting them in prayer like a sword! (Job 22:22; Proverbs 3:1; Matthew 4:1–11; Psalm 119:16; Ephesians 6:17–18)
Teach them to depend on Your Word.
In Jesus' name, amen.

application...when it applies, then you might consider giving it the thought to commit to memory...otherwise, just read, and re-read...over and over..and naturally, these will become secound nature...as i have read the book of romans 17 times...the book of John 27 times, James 36 times and so on...genisis 18 times...it comes with time...now, if you happen to see something that is "special to you?" mark it (it is a book) or "highlite" it this way, every time you cross it's path, you will see it again and again..and this helps to commit to memory also..the important thing is the Spirit of the teaching that is in each part...this is more important than the actual words...and the Lord has much to say about what was "written" He had many thoughts beyond the "pen" "Peace!"
