I'm confused.
There were a lot of answers from Christians, but they were all different. Which of them is right?
Some say all sins are equal. Some say they aren't. Some say you don't have to confess your sins; others say you can confess later on because there's no statute of limitations. Some say it doesn't matter; others say it does.
Can anyone set the record straight?

On theKarma ledger of Life, two columns, the first right listing good deeds, the second, bad.
If you are heavy on the left, then you are reborn to live it all again until you learn, with the station you are born at in life directly related to how odious those deeds were. Hell. Akin to sitting the same year in high schoolor being relegated to kindergarten for the latter.
If however you are heavy on the right, then you are obviously a shining example of piety, goodness and mankind. Or else you have lived in an incubator and life has not tested you. The latter being a miserly negative. Then heaven is here all around and the highestone awaits YOUR coming to his gate.
If however there right and left hand columns are both equally numbered, then life has been a struggle but bearable, then you in all probability will be reborn, unless you are a shining light to the world around you....
Be Loved.

This should enrage a lot of Christians out there. Good job!
I think first of all you are labeling "Christian," something that sounds "Catholic." Just an observation.
I really want to answer this seriously, as I have thought and researched this and similar religious issues.
What I've come up with is that the only thing that matters is the good work you do. Helping other people, not making anyone feel bad (or worse) about themselves, etc. Lifting others up gets you big points as far as getting into "Heaven."
As far as Christian religions go, And I'm going to use caps to emphasize, the plain and simple truth is that IF you are going to charge people BIG MONEY to attend your church, you have to provide ADDED VALUE.
Unfortunately the added value in the Christian world is that you tell all of your parishioners that "they are the best" and "they are the only ones who are right" and "they are the only ones who will be saved and go to Heaven."
People pay through the nose for these reassurances, and they love feeling like they are "better than" (fill in the blank...atheists, homsexuals, black people, jews, whatever).
Its very sad.

You, along with billions of others, mistakenly believe that it is we - the believer - who makes himself righteous. This is a lie.
Romans 5:19 (New International Version)
19 For just as through the disobedience of the one man the many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of the one man the many will be made righteous.
This is saying that because of Adam we were all brought under the curse of sin but because of Jesus and His obedience to God we, by our faith in Him to save us, are justified. We don't need to be perfect. Yes repentence is a great idea and we should do it but the thing is God is a much more understanding being than most of you give Him credit for. Jesus Christ faced every temptation the rest of us face and the difference is He was able to overcome. That's why He is so great - He let our guilt be nailed to His body.

the only sin that God doesn't forgive is the one that's not confessed. No nothing is impossible with God. Prayer helps. Yes there are no sins greater then the other so who told you that atheist and homosexuals wouldn't be forgiven. P.S Shellfish and football a sin??? um hm right???

No, a christian just doesn't have to kneel down and repent every single one of their sins. They should at least know that they are wrong and ask for forgiveness. God does forgive them for everything they do though, they just have to ask for forgiveness. And if they don't repent then God will not take away their salvation for it. It's something God wants christians to do, but we don't have to do it. It is just apart of living the life of a christian. Sometimes just realizing you were wrong and making an attempt to not doing the sin again is a sign of repentence to God. Basically when Jesus died on the cross, he cleared all of our sins even though we had not commited them yet. Jesus's blood washes away all our sins

The biblical definition of repent / repentance is not about turning from, or begging forgiveness of your sins. Repentance is the act of turning "TO" God. As a result, one abandons the lifestyle of sin.
When Cornelius, et.al. received the Holy Spirit, nothing is in the narrative of Cornelius confessing his sins. The conclusion of the issue was that God had granted repentance unto the Gentiles. A Gentile could confess sin, but could not, prior to Christ, turn to God in this manner.
Also, A Christian is dead to sin. The old man is buried through baptism.
So your whole perspective on the subject is greatly flawed.
If a homosexual turns to God, God is bound by His Word to heal even that one.
For this people's heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them. -- Matthew 13:15

Well it's like 7 lies = 1 theft, that kinda thing. Salvation below a certain amount, damnation above that amount. He's got a big calculator somewhere.
Honestly, that seems to be what a lot of people here are saying. Great question, and if I'm not mistaken this is pretty much how the Reformation started with confession versus justification by faith. Some people need to read up on that one, looks like.

"For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." - Romans 3:23
Actually, you are correct that Christians sin. Though you are a bit misinformed about some other things. Eating shellfish is not a Christian sin, neither is the use of pigskin.
For the record, those things you mentioned are what we call "the Laws of Moses" which were fulfilled by Jesus Christ and no longer apply.
The point isn't whether or not we sin - the point is our effort to live a life modeled after Christ. We all sin, yes, and we all have sin, and we sometimes forget to repent of sins that we commit. However, the fact is that Christians - true Christians - make a conscious effort to live their life to model Christ.
If we sin and we have no desire to change or even attempt to live our lives according to God's will, then we're not true Christians.
The others that you mention - "atheists, homosexuals, etc." - are not trying to live their lives according to Christ. Therefore, they are not repentant.
Remember that God knows the hearts of people, not just their action.

Jesus died once for all. Once for all people, once for all
sin. If you are a true believer in who Jesus was (the Son of God, fully God but fully man at the same time....which takes faith to believe, faith comes from God - He's just that perfect). If one is a believer, they would be indwelled with the Holy Spirit and the Holy Spirit would convict the Christian of their sin/sins, leading the Christian to confess the sin and repent (turn away from sin). We are all human and because of the fall (Adam & Eve in the garden) we are all doomed, without a Savior. That's why Jesus came. He was the perfect substitute for us & for our sins. Fully God, fully man. He gave up His life (His life was not taken from Him...on the cross He, in a loud voice said,"It is finished" and gave Himself up, taking his last breath) on our behalf. God sees the believer as He sees His Son, who is perfect and is sitting at the right hand of God. So, unless Jesus comes back before a person dies (He is coming back, we just don't know when) that person will stand before God and God will say, "why should I let you into My heaven?" If you don't know the answer to that question....you are a believer, but of the god of this world (which is Satan). Not a child of God, but a child of the god of this world.
Hope that helps.
