Do you agree with America's concept of 18 being mature enough to handle nude imagery?

Anybody alive knows what nudity is every time they shower and look in the mirror.

I don't have nor need religion to know that pornography is shallow and appeals to the most primitive aspects of human nature, not to mention how it distorts the nature of human reality since few people look like the pros who act in those films.

It is a business, much like the illegal drug business which feeds addicts to that stuff.

Age is not an all encompassing indicator for what is suitable for the human mind since people mature at different rates and so many remain stymied at particular levels of the "maturity scale."

I don't care for it. It does nothing for me since I've seen just about anything you can imagine from many years in the health care industry. You've seen one and you've seen them all.

I prefer romantic excitement in a well written novel or film that does not necessarily involve extreme physical prowess but unique sensitivity of the human condition for my money.

Then again, that's just me....

18 is just a number. There is no guarantee that all 18 year old are mature enough for, well, anything.
Personally I don't have a problem with nudity or pornography as long as it is mutually agreed to. And the participants are at least of the age of consent.

If you're offended by nudity, then this says far more about your own deplorable state of mind than it does about anyone elses. Nudity is a natural fact. If you read more into it than that, you're the one with problems.

If one can join the army at 18, then I see no reason why they shouldn't be allowed to look at pictures.

The "problem" of nudity does not stem from any great moral wellspring. Our culture doesn't like it, others are OK with it. Try and look at the world without wearing the myopic glasses of social and cultural taboo.

Pornography is destructive, demeaning, desensitizing, and exploitative. It is destructive to marital relationships. It is demeaning, for she becomes a sex object, depriving her of the worth and respect that she deserves as a daughter of God. It is desensitizing, for it perverts the perception, it callouses the conscience, thus producing a depraved person(Romans 1:22,28) It is exploitative, and abusive; completely contrary to the scriptures, which say that one treat others as one wants to be treated(Matthew 7:12) Child pornography is the most offensive and destructive, "if anyone leads astray even one child who believes in me, he would be better off thrown into the depths of the sea with a millstone hung around his neck" (Matthew 18:6)
Norman Cousins wrote the following:"the trouble with pornography is not that it corrupts, but that it desensitizes, not that it unleashes the passions, but that it cripples emotions; not that it encourages mature attitude, but a reversion to infantile obsessions; ...Prowess is proclaimed, but love is denied. What we have is not love, is dehumanization"(Sat. Rev. of Lit.9/20/75)
Pornography is everywhere, and even our children have easy access to it. As a result, our society is suffering from increased child prostitution, increased sexual assaults on women, teenage pregnancies, drug damaged mentalities and an overall loss of decency.
"If you value the approval of god, fix your minds on the things which are holy and right and pure and beautiful and good" Phillipians 4:8,9

I see nothing wrong with nudity. 18 is ridiculously old for nudity. Porn is a different story. I'd say at least 16ish. Seriously, many of us started having sex around then. If we could handle that, I think we can handle seeing the images of others doing it. I am not religious so that doesn't play into my thinking. I go by common sense.

I like nudity, but I prefer it in the flesh, no point really watching porn and getting yourself all excited over nothing...
...but when I was around 13, I was very much into pornography, as I'm sure most (straight) young lads are.

Considering that for the majority of human history children had a "live porno show" in their parents or others of their tribe or clan. I think that more, healthy exposure to sex is probably a good thing. Repression rarely, if ever, results in healthy attitudes towards anything.

On the other hand, porn is full of fantasy and unrealistic expectations so it is not the best example of healthy sex.

What in the world is wrong with nudity?

If nudity was "bad," we would have been born with clothes.

Pornography is fine-even great sometimes. I know I like to watch it at times.

nudity is great

pornography makes people into sex objects...

no need for an age limit... you were born nude, and got to see others nude...

if nudity weren't "forbidden", there would be less problems... parts is parts after all, but what is forbidden is sought after all the more.
