The most important document that you will be requiring is the Marriage Certificate that will be issued to you by the Marriage officer when you marry this Indian man under the Special Marriage Act, 1954 before the Marriage officer/registrar, also called the court marriage in case you both belong to different religions, otherwise if you both belong to same religion & undergo the religious form of marriage then get such marriage registered by the Marriage registrar under the provisions of the Matrimonial law applicable to such marriage. Other important documents will be the age proof of this man, his valid passport which should not be expiring within six months, his police verification report from his age of 16years till now, his medical report as applicable for spouse visa/immigration. The age certificate of this man & the Marriage certificate should be properly Appostilised according to the international laws or provisions which you people will have to get it done in India, then only these will be legally applicable/valid for the spouse visa/immigration for your country. The Embassy can even like to see the photographs of the marriage & its ceremonies/reception etc to further verify truth of such marriage so get such functions during you marriage well photographed for such records. vijay_mahajan5758@yahoo.co.in

Evidence that your relationship is real. Evidence that you had met each other before the marriage took place. It's up to you to prove it. You could probably show stuff like old love letters, telephone bills, photographs of you both together, old travel documents and passports, that kind of thing. The British High Commission in India's website has some more information: http://www.britishhighcommission.gov.uk/servlet/Front?pagename=OpenMarket/Xcelerate/ShowPage&c=Page&cid=1145895047095 :-)
