Apparently, when god decided to kill everyone, Noah was ordered to take 2 animals of every kind (male and female). But when those two animals mated with each other wouldn't that mean that their children would have to mate with each other and so on, and if only noah's family was saved.....

Look please don't send back nasty answers...Im just asking a simple question, no need to get all "You're an athiest" on me.

We are all related anyway, whether the flood happened or not. Human beings are all part of the same species, which means we have a common ancestor. That's
One
Single
Ancestor.
The first couple of humans, whether you call him Adam or her Eve or not doesn't matter, the fact is they were real, whether you are an atheist, a geneticist or a biblical scholar. There really was only one starting point for us, and it wasn't all that long ago. All men share a common ancestor from Africa about 60,000 years ago. No people on earth currently are further apart than 23rd cousin or something like that.
We travel around a lot, that's why we have such long beautiful legs that take up almost half our body. In our travels, we meet exciting, exotic and attractive strangers and have children with them. Or have a war, capture some of them and have kids that way, whatever. We are all, almost literally, brothers and sisters under the skin. So, it's probably better to reserve the term "incest" to mean sex within the actual immediate family, rather than applying it to 2nd cousins, 3rd cousins, or your father's 4th cousin twice removed on his mother's grandfather's side by marriage.
Besides the fact that humans are travellers, we also settle down in isolated communities for centuries when we find a safe place. Those isolated communities survive without any genetic input from the outside for a long time. So after say, two thousand years on the island, everybody has the same last name, the same big nose, the same straight hair. Might as well be incest, since the girl you marry is almost identical to your real sister.
As for whether or not Noah's flood happened, there are stories in several cultures about a great flood that destroyed almost everything - There's one about Gilgamesh, and another couple in the American native tradition, even in ancient Chinese records there are references to large flooding. Furthermore, geologists and archaeologists have found physical evidence of at least one extremely large flood engulfing huge parts of the world, so I am inclined to believe there was a flood. Natural disasters tend to winnow down the available gene pool for mating purposes, which is another reason why we are all so closely related to each other. Current research has established that human beings are genetically highly homogenous, that is the DNA of individuals is more alike than usual for most species. One study puts our most recent common ancestor at only a few thousand years ago - between 15,000 and 6,000, leaving very little time to get away from our cousins, genetically speaking.

He was ordered to take 7 of every kind of clean animal and 2 of every kind of unclean animal. Ever study the size of that ship he built? It took him a hundred years to make it. It is the size of a modern day supertanker. He was on that boat for almost a year. Animals take time to procreate. Some can do it fast... others can not.

Ever study geology? I always wondered why there is sedimentary rock throughout the United States... evidence it was once under water. I have a resource for you. "The Genesis Flood" by Dr. Henry Morrison. Go to a library and pick it up... its a good read.

As far as the issue of incest goes... the flood took place about a thousand years later. You can calculate it by using the genealogies of those who lived and died. How many generations past by before the flood? This is no longer a case for incest is it? Think about it.

actually depending on what noah story you read noah may have taken as many as seven pairs of all the clean animals and only one pair of all the unclean animals, also im pretty sure noah had children who were already married and also saved so that should make the gene pool a bit bigger, although if you believe science this is all meaningless

I don't have a problem believing we are all descended from the same two people. What I don't understand is how some atheists think this idea is ludicrous but believing that "humans and apes have a common ancestor" is logical.

Fair question, but aren't we all related-closely and distant.
If your genuinely looking for Biblical answers concerning Noah's flood have a look at www.answersingenesis.org
At least find out where Christians are coming from in respect to such issues.
Peace and God Bless.

Yes, but it was that before the flood also. Adam & Eve children reproduce among themseles. Hey we are all related.

By your standards, we are living in incest anyway.

Ever hear of Mitochondrial Eve?

It's going to sound stupid when I say it but here goes.

Old Testament incest was ok, because God hadn't set the ground rules yet. Adam and Eves kids incest - it had to be.

New Testament with Jesus giving out the new rules - incest had to stop
