Why is it only displaying 480. My TV is 4 years old. When we watch HDTV, we display in 1080i, but we cannot watch blue ray or play playstation 3 in 1080. any help? we are going crazy.

Have you gone into the Playstation 3 settings and set it to output 1080i thru component wire ?

According to this web site, you have an EDTV.
http://www.shopping.com/xPF-MX-42VM10

Its native resolution is 852x480. No matter what resolution you input, the TV scales everything BACK to 480, its maximum resolution.

So, don't waste your time by trying to watch 1080i. No need to scale images up and down. Just watch it at the native resolution. (When you think you are watching 1080i, the input may be 1080i, but the TV scales everything back to 480).
