I don't know about buses but the train from Southampton Central to Portsmouth & Southsea runs every 30 minutes and takes 30 to 40 minutes, which will be faster than any bus which operates between the two towns

its the X27 - times look up on solent bluelines web page. It does not run on Sundays. It starts opposite peacocks, stops at the civic center and then via Bitterne and Lordshill to Pompey. Train is a better option though as they are more reliable!!! (used to commute for a year!!!)

http://www.solentblueline.com/

Doesn't mention Sundays though.... there's a phone number on there that you could try.... I just tried but no one's answering.... I would try again in the morning.

There are trains though.....

Fill in the details of your journey and the timetable will come up on a separate screen.

Have a nice day out.... take care.
