I need some things cleared up from a practicing mormon.

-Do Mormon use the Bible
-Do Mormons also use a Book of Mormon with complete different writings from the original Bible
-Do you believe Jesus was a white man (not counting thats the overall American visual of Jesus)
-Is it ok to have multipule partners

I don't mean any offense but these are the things that are always thrown out there.

Hi friend.

1) We do use the Bible. Most English-speaking Mormons use the King James Version.

2) The Book of Mormon is not the same thing as the Bible. They are indeed completely different writings, just like Shakespeare’s Hamlet and King Lear are completely different texts. The Book of Mormon does not, however, contradict the Bible. The two work together to testify of Christ's divinity.

3) I always assumed Jesus was olive-skinned, sort of like the Sephardic Jews of the Middle East.

4) Having multiple partners is absolutely forbidden. The phrase "modern Mormon polygamist" is a misnomer. Mormons do not practice polygamy. Even in cultures where polygamy is acceptable (some Muslim countries, for example), Mormons NEVER have more than one wife. Any member found to have more than one wife is excommunicated.

Mormons believe polygamy is only acceptable on very rare occasions when God authorizes it (i.e. Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, etc.). Otherwise, monogamy is the rule. (This is the message of Jacob 2:27-30 in the Book of Mormon.) Because God commanded Mormons to stop practicing polygamy in 1890, Mormons believe that modern-day polygamists are acting contrary to God's will. It is not that Mormons secretly want to practice polygamy but that the law/social norms/societal pressure prevent them. Mormons sincerely are not interested in practicing polygamy, because God has said it is no longer authorized.

Those that practice polygamy in Utah and Arizona are not Mormons. They belong to separate religions (usually FLDS).

-Do Mormon use the Bible
Yes the King James Version
-Do Mormons also use a Book of Mormon with complete different writings from the original Bible
There are some differences, The Book Of Mormon was written by prophets of old and translated by Joseph Smith.
-Do you believe Jesus was a white man (not counting thats the overall American visual of Jesus)
They always seem to make it that way. I don't care what color his skin was, he was awesome.

-Is it ok to have multipule partners
Mormons believe that premarital sex is a "no-no" but, no one is in charge of who you love, you don't have to believe what we do, that's totally fine, live your own life, and do what makes YOU happy, not everyone else.

-Do Mormon use the Bible
Yes.

-Do Mormons also use a Book of Mormon with complete different writings from the original Bible

It does not have complete different writings. You should read it sometime. You can read it free online.

-Do you believe Jesus was a white man (not counting thats the overall American visual of Jesus)

Are you saying that black Americans see Jesus as white, and Asian Americans see Jesus as whtie, etc.?

I never really thought about what race He was.

-Is it ok to have multipule partners

You mean, sexually? No, one gets disfellowshipped or excommunicated for that.

Love the Bible! I also love reading Cleon Skousen's commentaries on the Bible, as well as the Institute manuals for college students.
If you know Jewish customs, the Book of Mormon sounds a lot like the Bible, because prophets with Jewish backgrounds wrote it. There are different stories, because after all, it was written in a different part of the world.
I think Jesus Christ was on the light side of a Middle Eastern look. I also think that the brighter your spirit is, or the more light you receive as you learn and grow, the lighter you look even if nothing has changed about skin color. What is important to God is not skin color, but obedience.
Not sure what you mean by multiple partners. We believe in the law of chastity, that people should save physical relations for after they are married, and that the Lord's standard is one man, one woman. If someone who is married dies, the widow or widower may marry again.

Mormons use the King James version of the bible. The book of Mormon is different than the bible. It is not the bible. It is another testament of Jesus Christ. Jesus race was of Nazareth. But now he is light. We do not believe it is ok to have multiple partners. That is the other religion fundamentalists commonly mistaken for Mormons.

Yes, we use the Bible, as well as the Book of Mormon. we see them as equally important.

It does not matter the race that Jesus was born into, he was the Son of God, who is the Father and Creator of all races. However, Jesus was born in Bethlehem, meaning he was Jewish or Hasidic.

Polygamy was outlawed by the church over 100 years ago, and any who practice it today are not members of the church, and may be excommunicated for it.
