The M1A1, A2, and SEP family of Abrams tanks all use an M256 120mm main gun. There are 2 main types of ammunition used: sabot and HEAT (High Explosive Anti Tank). The sabot round is designed to pierce the armor on enemy tanks and can destroy basically any tank ever produced. These are made of DU, depleted uranium, and have a muzzle velocity of around 5,000 feet per second. The maximum effective range is over 2 miles with the sabot. It's awesome. The HEAT round can also destroy tanks but is more commonly used for light armored vehicles, bunkers, and other non-tank targets. It uses a high explosive charge that shoots hot gases into the target, again with highly devastating results if done properly. Other 120mm rounds include a canister round for use against enemy infantry and an MPAT round designed mainly for helicopters but also bunker-type fortifications. Besides the powerful 120mm main gun, the tank also has an M2 .50 caliber machine gun that the tank commander uses. There are 2 M240 machine guns also, one mounted coaxially to the main gun and one mounted to the loader's station. The M1 Abrams is a pretty formidable tank with some of the best capabilities out there.

Military tanks are priced by the number's ordered in a contract, also you don't just buy the tanks but spare parts as well, that includes all the accessories, equipment and engine parts per so many units.
Trying to give a price for just a tank is not very feasible.
