I am never surprised by the callous disregard for humanity found in the non-Biblically literate segment of Christianity, also known as the majority.
If I was a Christian, I'd be saddened, but I'm not, so I just don't listen to such nonsense.
The Biblically literate know "Blessed are the PEACEMAKERS."

I was raised Catholic but I let myself free of religion's constraints. Sometimes you have to look outside the box you lived in for answers to life.
What's to say about all the spiritual indigenous people of this world? I believe they are CLOSER to God without having ever to know or pick up a Bible! The universal laws of karma and reincarnation have more proof than ever that is does in fact exist.
Hell? Sorry but we are all already in Hell. It's mean, nasty, rude people who are the "devil". Considering we have enough mean people on this earth whose to say we have a guy (or woman) in a red suit with a pitchfork waiting for us at the trenches of the deep?
We are all here to learn for ourselves through different life paths and experiences.
I will say this again, but born agains, evangelicals, and right wing fundamentalists control their masses out of fear. All their beliefs are fear based. Meanwhile a higher power among their ministries is decieving and using them. It always has been like that with religion. It was with Catholics and what you are seeing with Muslims and Christians is following the same path.
Why would a perfect, all-loving God be so mean and vengeful? And if God is perfect, he wouldn't be capable of being so mean and wrathful. If He is all good, then he is nothing but kindness and forgiveness. That's why he lets us take the wheel and decide what to do with ourselves. It is not He who judges, but us. We put ourselves where we are at.
Break free and find your own truth within your own God-center.

I already knew, by christian dogma, that any who disbelieve will go to hell (including Gandhi). This is not consistent with the portrayal of a loving god who is omnipotent and omniscient.
However, I have given up on expecting religion to be internally consistent and rational. It is all emotion and dogma, what some call faith.
I am not tuned that way, therefore I cannot accept the existence of any god until there is evidence to support that existence. I lack faith, dogma, and most of all, I lack fear of any hell, or desire of any heaven.

I've always been disturbed by the "this is the only right way" attitude of Christianity. It is too narrow for humans.
I'm not so much bothered by the threats of hell, since I don't believe in it, as I am at the apparent glee some have at the thought of people going there. I don't see how that can be inspired by love.

Gandhi was a true "Christian"-a man of god who did great things for the betterment of humanity. I wish more Christians were like Gandhi. He is not in hell. He has found Nirvana.

I was born and raised hearing this sort of thing, so it doesn't surprise me. I even heard somebody say recently that Mother Theresa was going to hell because she had serious doubts about Christianity. Meantime, I hear active gang members or convicted murderers on death row who are convinced that they are going to heaven because they have been "saved" by putting their faith in jeebus the lard, etc.
I think that the bumper sticker that says "Christians aren't perfect, just forgiven" says it all: lots of people think they can live amoral -- if not outright evil -- lives, but that they're superior to others who don't believe in the same ancient myths.

These people are so brainwashed. It's so sad. Just the other day I saw a question on here that included answers from people who also said that Mother Theresa is going to hell.
Fortunate for Gandhi and Theresa, Hell doesn't exist. :)

I posted a question after his asking whether believers believer that people of different religions(or no religion) would go to heaven if they were good, compassionate..etc..(you get the drill).
As you can guess. Most. 95% said no.
To me it shows that religion emphasizes a lot more on the importance of worshiping god rather than living as a good person. I dont know how they can agree to it, but they do, and to each his own.If heaven and god were really such a good and fair place, then would being good go on unnoticed and you'll burn in hell because you are in a different religion or because you dont believe in god?The kind of message they're sending is that it doesn't matter how good you are, it all comes down to whether you believe in _______ or not. One of them mentioned that goodness is not judged when going to heaven, it's salvation.

I already knew this about Christian beliefs so it saddens but doesn't shock me to hear it again. This is one of the things I can't accept about their belief system but it is not the main reason I am not a Christian. I once asked about Hitler going to heaven and was told he would if he accepted their Jesus before he died but the many innocent Jews he tortured and killed went to hell if they didn't accept their savior. =(

My opinion hasn't changed one bit. I don't think much of Christianity, its beliefs, or its believers, and those answers do a great job of illustrating why. I find the Hell concept, and anyone who would go around believing such things, absolutely repulsive.
