I am looking for an exceptional HDTV for gaming and blu ray.?

I am looking at TV's around 40 inches. HDTV, 1080p is what I am going to get, however I am wondering what I need to look for and also what is the absolute best one I can get

I saw the Samsung 71f series of LCD TVs playing a Blu-Ray disc in Circuit City. They looked truly exceptional. The people looked very lifelike at times.
