I'd suggest some music that she likes and is more along the smooth level in sound.
Also some nice comfy pillows and some candles will do the trick.
It is all about setting the atmosphere - eventually she will be comfortable enough with it where it will become a normal thing to do between the both of you.

she could be cold, not in the mood, you stare at her, too rough, you're parents are upstairs and can come down any minute

You might be getting into it quicker than her. She also might just be (naturally) more uptight. Start slowly and cater to her needs. She may just need more foreplay.
