If Jesus is the son of GOD, doesn't that mean that the FATHER is GOD.

When Jesus was praying to the FATHER, he was praying to GOD.

The trinity was never known to the Jews, so ONLY the FATHER is GOD.

For it is written, ‘It is Jehovah your God you must worship, and it is to him alone you must render sacred service.'" 11 Then the Devil left him, and, look! angels came and began to minister to him.

Hebrews 5:8 Although he was a Son, he learned obedience from the things he suffered;

28. God's justice is strictly perfect. Ex. 21:23-25
Exodus 21:23-25 But if a fatal accident should occur, then you must give soul for soul, 24 eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot, 25 branding for branding, wound for wound, blow for blow. for example. The ransom price was one perfect human for another. An imperfect man's life would be too low. Ps. 49:7
Psalm 49:7 Not one of them can by any means redeem even a brother, Nor give to God a ransom for him;

If Jesus was the same as God, the ransom price paid by a God would have been too high. Adam was a perfect MAN and the ransom price was a perfect MAN, not higher or lower.

Regarding Neptune's use of John 1:1.........
There are many Bible translations that have used "a god" at John 1:1c. The NWT is probably the most famous version, and perhaps the most attacked for it's translation. However, it is by no means alone in use of "a god"(or form thereof) at John 1:1. Most of the translations listed below are from translators who are actually believers in the trinity doctrine. So, ask yourself honestly, why these translators would choose to translate their Bibles in a way other than "the word was God"? Consider these please:

In a beginning was the Word, and the Word was with the God, and a god was the Word.
(Interlineary Word for Word English Translation-Emphatic Diaglott)
Harwood, 1768, "and was himself a divine person"
Thompson, 1829, "the Logos was a god
Reijnier Rooleeuw, 1694, "and the Word was a god"
Hermann Heinfetter, 1863, [A]s a god the Command was"
Abner Kneeland, 1822, "The Word was a God"
Robert Young, 1885, (Concise Commentary) "[A]nd a God (i.e. a Divine Being) was the Word"
"In a beginning was the [Marshal] [Word] and the [Marshal] [Word] was with the God and the [Marshal] [Word] was a god." John 1:1 21st Century NT Literal
Belsham N.T. 1809 “the Word was a god”
1928: “and the Word was a divine being.” La Bible du Centenaire, L’Evangile selon Jean, by Maurice Goguel.
Leicester Ambrose, 1879, "And the logos was a god"
J.N. Jannaris, 1901, [A]nd was a god"
George William Horner, 1911, [A]nd (a) God was the word"
James L. Tomanec, 1958, [T]he Word was a God"
Siegfried Schulz, Das Evangelium nach Johannes, 1975, "And a god (or, of a divine kind) was the Word"
Madsen, 1994, "the Word was a divine Being"
Becker, 1979, "a God/god was the Logos/logos"
Stage, 1907, The Word/word was itself a divine Being/being.
Holzmann, 1926, "a God/god was the Thought/thought"
Rittenlmeyer, 1938, "selbst ein Gott war das Wort" [itself a God/god was the Word/word]
Smit, 1960, the word of the world was a divine being
Schultz, 1987, a God/god (or: God/god of Kind/kind) was the Word/word].
John Crellius, Latin form of German, 1631, "The Word of Speech was a God"
Greek Orthodox /Arabic translation, 1983, "the word was with Allah[God] and the word was a god"
Robert Harvey, D.D., 1931 "and the Logos was divine (a divine being)"
Jesuit John L. McKenzie, 1965, wrote in his Dictionary of the Bible: "Jn 1:1 should rigorously be translated . . . 'the word was a divine being.'

Knowing that John 1:1 is a contraversial scripture, it would be best to review all the scriptures in the Bible, without a preconceived idiology, and discover who Jesus really is in relationship to his father.

In the beginning God was with the Word and the Word was God and the Word was with God, the Word was Jesus, Jesus always existed with God..

The Holy Spirit is the power if you will, They are one with The Father (God) and the Word, (Jesus) in other words they share the same Holy Spirit.

And the Word said let there be light and God created the light and saw that it was good, Jesus speaks and God does, this is how it is throughout Jesus always taught to ask of His Father, in His name, the name of Jesus...How do you know the trinity was never known to the Jews, and by the way there are more of God's chosen people than the Jewish tribe descending from the tribe of Judas there are twelve tribes that were God's chosen people, the descendents of Abraham, not all of them rebuked Jesus may followed and believed, the term "the Jews" is not correctly used today, because many were not of that tribe that is only one.

The "god" of the OT is little better than the godfather here on earth. He demands rivals are killed and tortured, all the while keeping his eye on the bottom line - money, control and power. He is guilty of ordering the executions of many but because, once in awhile, pretends to be lovable, all that misery he caused becomes insignificant? You cannot order the wholesale slaughter of an entire village, (with the virgins spared to act as sex slaves for the soldiers by "god's" command) and then claim you are love incarnate. This is the mindset of a psychopath... the drunk who beats his wife and then claims, "See what you made me do?" No different with Yaldabaoth/Yahweh. The mindset of a preschooler and millions worldwide who can twist any verse within their Bible to suit their agenda. The notion that this god is omniscient and omnipresent is nonsense in the extreme, let alone any type of spiritual guide or teacher. If we took the same actions as it ordered, we would be spending a very painful life in prison... unless we are ridiculously wealthy and can buy our freedom or a scapegoat. If the verses from Corinthians is accurate, then "god" cannot be love, in any way. All it knows is force and coercion, the carrot and the stick, love me or else....

The Godhead is composed of three entities, each with the same divine nature. You have God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. All are eternal and share the same divine characteristics. Think about this. You go down to the lake on a crisp winter morning. What do you see? You see vapor coming from off the top of the lake, you see that the lake is frozen, u poke a hole in the ice and you see water. All three of these are water although they take different forms. This is the same with the members of the Godhead. All are God, but each has His work to do.

While I am not a Christian, I agree that the non-Trinitarian view of God seems more sensible. You might want to look at the non-Trinitarian versions of Christianity.

I would suggest looking into these Christian churches which are all non-Trinitarian: Jehovah's Witnesses, Christadelphians, Bible Students, American Unitarian Conference, Arian Catholic Church, Oneness (or Apostolic) Pentecostal, UU (Unitarian Universalist) Christian Fellowship, etc. Swedenborgianism (look up Swedenborg on Wikipedia) was also non-Trinitarian. I also believe the churches that sprang from Herbert Armstrong and retained his teachings are also non-Trinitarian (or unitarian - small "u").

While it is true that LDS Mormons do not believe in the Trinity, they have a doctrine of Godhead and eternal progression which is more polytheistic than monotheistic.

John 1:1-5
"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things came to be through him, and without him nothing came to be. What came to be through him was life, and this life was the light of the human race; the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it."

Jesus is the Word made flesh, the incarnate God.

Jesus said God is One. Read all of scriptures instead of just little bits and pieces of it.

Mar 12:29 And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments [is], Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord:

“Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one! Deuteronomy 6:4

This was and still is said in Jewish services.

And I do believe this, however, though God is ONE, he OFTEN says WE this and WE that throughout the OT. Thus the Godhead is a WE. He is 3 persons in ONE GOD. No one can understand this, NO ONE can understand the mind of God, so don't ask how this could be? Only God knows!!!
