I was watching a show last night called Ask God, (and may I add, the woman that hosts the show is so annoying: it was my first time watching it) and the topic of conversation was, "How Do You Stay Out of Hell?" And the entire time they were debating it: some saying that being a good person with good intentions just isn't enough, some say that Jesus Christ dying on the cross for our sins just isn't enough for some of the evil people in the world, and when they went to the streets and asked, some people said there is not heaven and there is no hell and ultimately there is no God.

My opinion would be a combination of 1 and 2. If you are a good person and you have good intentions, good will come to you, good awaits you. If you're a bad person, and have done bad things, you may even still be able to go into heaven, and that is why Jesus Christ died for our sins, so the sinners (which we all are) could repent, could ask for forgiveness, and God being so merciful and loving would welcome the sinner, now forgiven of his sins, into the Kingdom of Heaven.

Someone on the show asked if you could just ask for forgiveness, why are there so many people going to hell? Or rather, why is there a hell in the first place? And someone on the show said, "Because a lot of people forget to do the most obvious and important thing: ask."

2.....BUT, Jesus Christ just die on the cross....He was buried and the power also rests, and just as importantly.....in the resurrection of Jesus!!! Without that....we would just have another lunatic on our hands like all those people who declare that their god is divine in some way.
So, I believe a person must SIMPLY put their trust in the finished work of Jesus Christ and what He did for us.....
He came to Earth as a perfect man, being God Himself at the same time, lived perfectly, was killed unjustly, was buried in a tomb, and three days later rose to life victorious so "WE"...everybody, YES WE, could experience a TRUE inner peace with the Creator of this entire universe.....and enjoy an eternity with God.....like we originally created to do in the beginning!
John 14:6 "Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me."

The next few verses is the Apostle Paul writing to the church in Corinth....

Read this....1 Corinthians 15:3 "I passed on to you what was most important and what had also been passed on to me. Christ died for our sins, just as the Scriptures said. 4 He was buried, and he was raised from the dead on the third day, just as the Scriptures said."

peace to you

I will choose #1. I happen to be Catholic and believe in Jesus, that he died for our sins and that his death opened Heaven to all those who are good and loving, even those who, through no fault of their own do not know him. "Not everyone who says 'Lord, Lord...will enter into my kingdom, but he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.'" Jesus told us that the requirement is love, love for God and love for our fellow man. Belief in Him is important, but all of us know very good people, very unselfish people, who follow Judaism, and other religions faithfully because that is the way they have been brought up. Since He is a loving God, I do not think those people will be cast into hellfire.

In answer to King Chrissy, my mom told me when I was a little girl who did not think she could be happy without comic books in heaven, that whatever I needed to be happy would be there, so if it was comic books, I would have them. I daresay that it is the same for rock music.

Christian Universalism does not teach the existence of an eternal hell. Jesus' sacrifice is meant to save us from death and is for all. Here are some resources for anyone interested in Christian Universalism:

well, heaven depends entirely on the person, does it not. Your idea of 'heaven' is not mine. The christian heaven doesn't even have rock music (what's all that about), a place without rock would surely be hell to me.

you get there when you fall asleep and dream.
