A creative essay does not include a persuasive essay. When the topic or form of the paper is too defined, it ceases being creative. I don't know if there is any essay that isn't personal on some level. Most everyone incorporates their own opinions and views into the work of writing, giving it a personal element. In my mind, a creative essay, while it may be loosely defined by a teacher or professor, it usually comes completely from the imagination of the student. In my experience, a creative essay ceases to be creative when you pull other sources into it, as this is building on the research and arguments of other scholars. This eliminates persuasive essays from the realm of creative essays. Narrative essays and descriptive essays are ones I'd include in the Creative essay genre; most of the time they relate a personal experience.
I believe a creative essay is easier because it takes less grunt work. All you have to do to prepare is organize your thoughts and ideas, create an outline, and then write away. Persuasive essays can require up to several hours worth of collecting and analyzing relevant sources to include in your paper to support your argument, and then organizgin ideas, the outline, and the drafting process.

I wrote several creative essays and I have to say they are a bit difficult to write. Even though you may have a good idea, it is hard to put the idea into a presentable format like an essay. I was writing a World Literature Paper and we had the choice of either writing a Descriptive Analysis or a Creative Essay. I chose the Creative Essay and I regretted my decision later. The Descriptive Analysis would have been much easier.
I'm not sure what a Personal Essay is but if it is something like a commentary, then I would have to agree with your father.
I do not think Creative Essays count in a category such as Descriptve, Narrative, Pesuasive or Personal Essays.
I'm in high school, junior year.

What do you mean by creative essay? Creative fiction story? Descriptive, narrative, persuasive, and personal can all have creativity of voice in them to make them more interesting. The type of writing that someone finds easy depends on the person. I have students who write brilliantly creative stories, but struggle to do more than make lists on other essays, while some students do well with personal essays, but freeze up when they have to write a story.
You and your dad are both right. ; )

It depends what kind of a person you are. If you are very descriptive, a creative essay is probably easier 4 u. But if your not, than a personal essay is easier.
I think personal essays are easier overall. Sorry, your dad's right.

I would say that Creative Essays are harder to write because it needs to be CREATIVE. My definition of creative is original, or something with a twist, which is harder, in my opinion, than writing about yourself.

It is a matter of opinion as to which essay is more difficult to write./ Part of the reason is that people are different and have different difficulties.
