you need 2 tools, a crate, and a leash.
when your eyes aren't on him, he is in a crate. Even when your eyes are on him, he is on a leash. Yes, you will look silly carrying a leash in the house, but it works.
Also, learn to read your dog.
2 of mine pee 3 times in the am. It took a while for me to learn that, but once i did, no more accidents. Maybe your dog is a multiple urinater.....

Maybe you should leave him out longer until you know he has peed. You will have to watch him, and after he urinates bring him in. If he pees again when you bring him in, it is probably a territorial issue. If that is the case you will have to be very firm with him. When he pees outside, reward him and make a fuss over him. When he does it in the house tell him NO, and send him back out. They are smart dogs, and it wont take long before he gets the message. Good luck

I have a pitbull mix that we rescued from the street. I believe he was contained in a bathroom during his first years of life. he would hang out in our bathroom and pee and poop in the same spot in the house. The only way we got him potty trained was to firmly yell no. We would grab his neck and point his face toward the poop. Then the most important part, we would take him outside and say "here!". You must take him outside during or immediatly after the accident. You must be persistant and strong and firm! Good luck!

he could be marking his territory..
Make sure you clean the area thoroughly where he has went pee, incase he is sensing the smell still...
Praise and give a treat when he does go outside, eventually he will learn he only gets the treat outside and not when he goes inside.. he should then want to do it outside so that he recieves his reward.. toilet training can take a bit of time, just keep being consisten and evenutally he will get it.

I agree with majestic. Also try using the same word "go potty" when taking him out. He'll begin to associate that with going out to do his business.
