Actually I know this sounds nuts your chihuahua is more likely to have a prob with the big dog big dogs just see smaller breeds like they were pupies unforantly the smaller breeds of dogs get scared of bigger dogs and act argsively toward large dogs if you take time in introducing them you shouldn't have a problem

Don't use a breed as a basis for determining. You have to analyze the individual dog. I have a Rottie that prefers playing with smaller dogs. He is very gentle with puppies and is very nurturing and protective but I do know someone who has a Rottie who doesn't do so well with smaller dogs. It's all about the individual dog. Here are a few questions I would recommend you ask yourself to help you determine which breed is good for you.

1) What is the climate like around you? (hot=short coat cold = long coat.)
2) How energetic are you and your family? Always pick a breed that has a lower energy level than you. For example if you are moderately energetic get a dog with a low energy level. If you have a high energy level get a moderately energetic dog.
3) What size and build can you physically handle? If you can't handle a 130 lb dog a Mastiff probably won't work for you but maybe a 65 lb Doberman would. Also, make sure your family can handle the dog including smaller children.
4) Are you stuck on getting a purebred for a particular reason. If not you may consider a shelter dog. They have gone through temperment testing and the staff should be able to help you find a dog to suit your family.

If you get a large breed puppy, they will most likely be friendly with each other. What you have to take into account is when they play, the little dog could get hurt accidently. I recently saw a little pup that lost its eye from a larger dog by accident. Small dogs are fragile and easily injured.

As long as you get the big dog as a puppy and be sure to socialize them. This way as the big breed gets older and larger he/she will still respect the small dog. I suggest a female dog or a neutered male dog (he should be neutered as soon as possible) I have a pit bull mix who loves little dogs.

any large dog can be friendly, its all in how you train and raise them.. i have two bichon frise, one is 9lbs the other is 19lbs... recently i got a staffie (who is almost 4 months old) , and so far all is going well..
Socialisation is important for dogs.. mine have never been aggressive to each other, and the puppy seems to be fitting in well..
Teach your dog what is acceptable behaviour and what isnt.. always be aware that anything can happen, also get both dog neutered, which will help with any future territorial issues..
My 3 all share the same food and water bowls, so there is no reason for food agression either..

It really depends on the dog because I have a larger dog and my friend has a small dog. They get along great!!! But some dogs just don't get along with other dogs.

Any breed as long as they are socialized together. I have a Cane Corso that was raised with my mom's Shitz zhu(sp?) my pup weighed more than my mom's dog at 9 weeks old. And even now when we visit my mom her dog is so happy to see mine.
