It seems as though I have the worst anxiety after a few days of drinking...is there any way around this for me to continue drinking but still be on the meds?

Alcohol and antidepressives in combination will destroy your liver and kidneys. Read the precautions in the paperwork enclosed with the meds! The printing is small but it contains valuable information including other drug interactions you should know about.

The combination of antidepressants and alcohol defeats the entire purpose of lifting your mood. Plus the two in combination creat double the intoxicating effect, there is no way to predict how it will effect you, but since alcohol lowers inhibitions your behavior could change drastically, not to mention that you may become physically ill. Depressed individuals often 'self-medicate' with alcohol thinking it makes them feel better, and it may for a few minutes. But there is always a point where your mood will turn downward and you will feel more depressed. Go to your doctor and seek help with coping strategies that can allow you to add some positive activities and solutions.

Alcohol does not mix well with ANY medication...a reaction takes place and causes chemical imbalances in your brain...this already makes the prozac ineffective since you don't feel well....my advice is to keep off of the alcohol while you are on the prozac..

The prozac might not work as well as it should if you are drinking alcohol, and you might have greater risk of danger while driving and that sort of thing.

Alcohol is a depressant as you know, therefore, does it make sense to take something to bring you up while injesting something that brings you down? Common sense man.

Why do you feel you want to drink? Maybe you need to go to AA.
