All of these pictures are on my website www.HanksPhotography.net if you are interested in prints. Feel free to use the contact info for any questions. Only the scenics and animals sections are available as prints. By the way, I also make great spaghetti. I am sure it is because of the fantastic pots I use, though.

I have no problems with CC. It is welcome and appreciated as long as it is in the interest of helping me improve. To be perfectly honest, my wife set up the site without me knowing about it using my images and I just kept it up and ran with it. I am currently enrolled in NYIP, so I know I am not where I need to be yet. My goal is to be the best photographer I can possibly be, though, so if you have something you want to add to help me with that, then please feel free.

Very nice...I love the church pic, I would buy a print of that (in black and white tho...)

You're moving in the right direction by taking classes from NYIP, which is a good course. My take on CC, please do not take it personally

#1 Cute, the boy on the right has blown highlights on his face. Also the image needs straightening. It is a good snapshot with good expression on the children.

#2, She is a beautiful child. Her face is out of focus, bland pose, lacking in compositional planning, and distracting background. Delete because of the focus.

#3 Horizon titled, easy to fix. Boring shot with no focal point and nothing of interest to draw the eye. Muddy color and contrast. Not enough detail in the foreground.

#4 Strong contrast with blown highlights in the clouds and underexposed church steeple. I think it might work better as a complete silhouette with no detail in the building part. I can see why some people like this one, though. Try again with better light.

The eyes in each of the people images are dead - use fill flash or a key flash to add a sparkle and some life, they are also centered - look up rule of thirds. View point could be a lot better.

The landscape image looks soft - use a tripod for landscapes, theres nothing really going on in the image.

The architecture image has an exposure issue, the silhouette/shadow should be darker, the clouds lack texture and the highlights are flaring - so less exposure, also a polarizer would have added definition to the clouds, bottom left corner is weak, angle could be better?

hope something helps you there

1. the most adorable picture. the light caught off both of the little boy's faces brings life to the picture.

2. the picture is bland and boring. the girl is extremely cute but you did not catch any light on her face so the picture has no life. trying doing a different perspective (ex. on and angle up above her face.)

3. there is nothing to this picture.

4. your main focus is the church, but the clouds over power because they are so much brighter. if the church had been a stark bright bright white it may have worked.

try using more different perspectives to make your pictures more interesting. i'm also pretty bias to film photography and doing to a dark room. i think it shows you put more work into it and film pictures always look more natural too me atleast. this is all pretty obvious digital with a good camera but not so great editing. so you try a little dark room see which one you like more.

my favorite is difinately the church picture. There is a strong contrast between the sky and the steeple, and it really adds a lot to your picture. (i would leave out the direct sunlight, though)

In the second picture, i would almost like to see more shadows or something, just because there is almost no contrast between the colors in the picture. The strongest contrast is on the pompom, which is where my eye was drawn. I'd rather be drawn to the cute little girls face, which almost fades into the picture.

Very nice, though.

The kids are ADORABLE, by the way.

To be very honest...non of them look pro. to me, nor do many of those on your site. Many look like snapshots rather than pro. photographs. Let me know if you are interested in CC and such. I know it's hard to hear stuff like that, but it is the only way we can improve!

The one of the boys on the fence can use some editing to make it look a little better.

What is your exif data? What are you using for PPing?

#1 the kid's face at right is blown out. Cool color balance.

#2 The color balance is too cool for my taste.

#3 Delete. Nothing of interest.

#4 Strong subject but cliche
