that is not a good reason to be an atheist.
so, tell me why you became a theist? (assuming you are)

That's a nice stab at it; but, you forgot the stories in the bible that believers seem to over look or even forgive. Genies aren't believable to many as well as there being any proof of there existence, so, *flushes this question down the toilet*.
Is this a new christian's intelligent question?

I do believe in God but I don't pretend to understand this question - or the need some seem to feel to bait those who do not believe.
You can't argue people into God's Kingdom: Jesus never even tried that approach. So if you can't love people into it, do you not demean yourself and your faith by trying to take the p*ss?
And in answer to those who can find no proof to justify belief, how do you make up your mind about the basic questions of love: do I love that person? Does that person love me?
How do even begin to differentiate - in a logical, forensic, evidential way - between pure and base motives in other people? Those people who were kind to me as a child: were they so out of the goodness of their heart and out of true concern for me? Or were they active or repressed paedophiles? Or were they trying to curry favour with my parents for some reason?
Such questions can only be decided by putting faith in our own ability to read character, and even that faith may be misplaced. If you only proceed in life on the basis of what can be proved and leave no room in your life for any faith of any kind (i.e. 'faith' meaning 'belief in that which cannot be proved'), you close yourself off from the perception of so many wonderful possibilities.

This, obviously, is not the reason that many people are atheists. A quick scan of the many questions about why atheists are atheists on Y!A will show you that most of us see a lack of evidence as the reason.

It is a reason to become an atheist, but most atheists don't become atheists for that reason.
Personally, I'm an atheist because nobody can present me with evidence.

You need to clarify what you mean by "God wasn't your genie."

The reason I'm an atheist is that there's no evidence for the existence of any deity.
The absence of magic has nothing to do with it.

No.
I have never asked any god to give me anything or do anything for me.
I am an atheist because it has not been proven that god exists.

Just because you're simple, does that mean you have to ask simple questions??
Oh, right... nevermind.
I was born an atheist. You apparently were born with limited oxygen supply to your brain... just like each and every theist...and troll :) Generalize much?
So, you don't know anything, and you like going around insulting people based on some odd guesswork of yours? I guess the anonymity here helps you work out that angst... it's kinda cute, in a pitiful way...
So, what IS wrong with you? Mommy didn't love you ebough? Daddy loved you (way) too much? Just let it out...let go of it. I hope you find happiness in your sad little life.
No make like a tree and get the f*** outa here :)

I don't know anyone who is an atheist for any reason other than the obvious one - the complete lack of evidence for the existence of any gods.
Christians are pretty desperate to make up excuses. Yours is only the latest in a long line of inane, desperate strawmen.

I didn't become an atheist becaue god didn't grant my wishes or answered /listened to my prayers.
Why should I spend my time worshipping something that there is no proof exists?
And if there is, then thats my problem, not yours. Let me go to your 'hell'
