Christianity follows the teachings of Paul, not Jesus.Jesus' teachings were pure and non judgmental.
Paul's are guilt ridden and judgmental.
This is the hate that people are responding to. If you seriously read Paul's writings it is clear that he even hated himself.
If you don't love yourself first it is impossible to love anyone else.
Love and blessings Don

"Deep down they know the Christian is right" No I don't think that is why people hate other people. Other people have other beliefs, such as the Hindu's worshiping their gods and their beliefs in Karma and Reincarnation, and they see christians coming in and the hindu's feel they're being having a religion they do not believe in is being pushed on them. May be a bad example... but it's just how I look at it. Outside of other religions, the essence of humanity is ignorence: people are simply set in their ways and are not willing to compromise their comfort. Again, I'm not trying to offend, just throwing my point of view into the mix

Hey I'm a Christian/Mormon (so maybe you don't think I'm a Christian... but I am, trust me).
The non Christians have a point in saying Christians hate. However, they SHOULD say that SOME Christians hate. I've met many good people who are Christian, but this website it seems as if there are soooo many rude Christians (and atheists, too) on it. These Christians sure act un-Christlike. They go off shooting their mouths about how "YOU'RE GAY SO YOU'RE GOING TO HELL!" or "I hope you burn and are forever tormented in eternity! I'll just look down from heaven and laugh at you some day!" or "Atheists have closed-hearts and are moraless idiots. The only reason they don't believe is to get out of responsibility because they are lazy", etc. And sooo many Christians on here are preachy. That can be a good or bad thing depending on your point of view and belief system, but I can understand why it would annoy some non-Christians. You asked how it would make them angry.... well look at it this way. Say someone of another religion, who's beliefs you did not agree with at all and did not believe in, was constantly pestering you and telling you to go church and believe otherwise you'd burn forever. Wouldn't that get annoying to you, since you didn't believe in their Church??? Now, the person belonging to that religion would think they were doing a good thing, but in all actuality being preachy (that is, being preachy in the sense that many Christians on here are. I think there are ways people can tell others about their religions in a polite way, but many of the Christians here seem to do it in a mean sort of way) probably just turns atheists/agnostics/deists more from religion. Heck, some of the Christians on here even annoy me sometimes.
It's foolish to assume that all Christians are good people and do what the Savior told us too. I've met many Christians in my life, and many of them do not act Christ-like in the least.
You can't blame some of these atheists for not being too fond of Christians.

It's not a contradiction. The reason being there are many christians who choose to spread hate instead of love and understanding. They (those christians who do) think they speak for God. Remember christian are simply humans following a path. It doesn't make them right.

Well, why don't you stick around this category for a while and check out some of the questions and answers some Christians give? They can be just as rude and condescending as any other group (actually, I find more).
It would obviously be unfair to put all Christians in the same basket, but some Christians are clearly capable of this no matter what their faith says.
There is a particular brand of Christianity which claims all non-believers will go to Hell for eternity to face eternal suffering. Which means these people brand all Muslims, Buddhists, Hindus, atheists, etc... as impure and deserving of eternal suffering. They will then claim that this is only due to the laws of God and not their personal beliefs. Think what you will, but that, to me, is an extremelly racist, conceited and yes, hateful belief.

First of all, it was Gandhi who said "hate the sin, love the sinner."
I don't know if I would say that Christians "hate" people when they are forcing their religious beliefs upon them, but I would say that it shows a profound lack of respect. Especially the assumption that some Christian who is supposed to be humble thinks he/she has the right to tell another human being what to believe in without ever asking what that person may already believe. The Christian in this case assumes that he/she knows best and should be telling other people what to do. Is it any wonder that those of us who have already experienced your religion and found it distasteful are offended when you start your preaching at us? And using your bible as your reasoning, when we don't even believe in it?

I believe that if the Christian God does exist, it would be 144,000 going to heaven. If Christ existed there probably will only be that number of "true" Christians. Sometimes Christians are hateful, just bring up something that brings their beliefs into question and they'll start threatening you with eternal hellfire, they say it's because they care. If it's because they care then why aren't they always giving me these warnings, instead of when something said strikes a nerve. These 'you'll be sorry' responses are out of anger not love.

Because Christians are human like everyone else and have the capability of hating. Not all that claim to be Christian truly are. What about that group that protests military funerals? They hate. I don't think they are Christians, but they think they are and many people can judge Christians by the actions of people like that.

because many christians dont act like christ did. Just look at the hateful christains picketing at gay clubs, and the pro-life christians killing abortion doctors. These people dont live what they preach, giving people a bad impression of christianity. Just like some people say islam is a religion of peace, while some use it to justify murder
