This next week I'm going to NY and want to ride quite seriosly but won't have a bike with me. I am prepared to rent a bike road/mountiain bike. I've heard you can ride a road bike in Central Park, do they mind you going fast?
Also a MB park off Long ISland Expressway?

Are there any other good, closed to traffic places to ride near or in NY, NY.
Thx

Your best bet would be to get in contact with one of the many bicycle shops in the city. Here's one that rents bikes. I am not endorsing them as I have never been, I just found it after a brief search.

All this in on your finger tips, get on the Internet.

Then if it is not on the net then get the number and call the park office and talk to the ranger on the duty you may have to call few times if you are getting cold shoulder, one of them will have good knowledge, so try till you get one that can help. most such places have vendors near by who will rent the Bic to you but ask the ranger when you call, they may let you have few names.

May sure to ask al the above Q? to the ranger.
