I always try to point out what Jesus said. He said many things that a lot of "church-goers" don't even want to hear today. Oh well. That's life I suppose.

1. Lots of people refer directly to Jesus's teachings as recorded in the gospels. Not sure why you would think otherwise.
2. Of course Paul is going to be quoted often--he wrote the majority of the New Testament.

2. Paul himself usually quoted other parts of the Bible.

People are selective in what they read, what they retain, and what the believe in the bible.
If you believe in the bible there is no other way to have it make sense, you must be selective and ignore - or explain away, large parts of it in order for it to make sense.
The bible is full of contradictions and inconstancies. If you REALLY read the whole thing you couldn't possibly believe it is the inspired word of the infallable creater of the universe.
