Thank you, you guys are the best...I'm just sensitive to anything involving hospitals and surgeries after my dad's death.

My appendix was removed over 30 years ago. That answer your question? Relax. It may require surgery for removal, if it is really the appendix. Doctors claim to not know why we even have that organ.
Today the surgery is laproscopic, so his scar will be small. He'll get antibiotics and may be released from the hospital in less than 24 hours. Stop worrying. I pray for your peace, but all is well.

It's very survivable. And you are definitely held in thoughts and/or prayers here and so is he and all who attend him.
Blessings :) He'll be up and actively about around 6wks after surgery, not to worry.

It's hard not to be able to get to his side right now at the hospital. Just keep holding his smiling face in your mind's eye and sending him lots of loving thoughts and energy. Turn your worry into positive work. You'll sleep better and he will feel better.
For God has not given us the spirit of fear, but of power of love and of a sound mind (2Timothy1:7)

Blessings & peace to you. :)

Edit: This young couple I'm close with just had their appendices removed within three weeks of each other! Surprised all the friends and family... While both were very short hospital stays, each of them took about 6 weeks to be fully 'up and about' from the abdominal 'procedure' (laproscopic or not, it is still abdominal surgery, and so there is internal healing that takes place over time, which is different for each person). To those who have not had any abdominal surgery it may seem like 'nothing', but it is 'something' and while it may not be as serious as open heart surgery or cancer treatment, it has its own healing time needed.

I'm glad you asked in this section. It gives all of us something to pull together on.

Thanks for bringing the group here into cohesion for a moment. I wish you could keep us posted on the outcome of the 'procedure'. Blessings :)

Your boyfriend should be fine. Most likely, he'll get his appendix taken out. The chances of something horrible happening during the surgery are pretty low.

It's common to be scared when someone you care about goes through surgery. Rest assured that very few people die of appendicitis, and that is usually because they don't go to the hospital when they should.

I wish him the best.

Yes, absolutely survivable. There was a news item just a few days ago about a 12 year old girl on a cruise ship in Mexico and she had to be choppered in to a hospital in the USA after her appendix burst at sea. She is fine now. I prayed for both of you.
EDIT: Atheist: Seriously, you are rude. Don't bother answering if you can't be civil.

Yes. But if the inflamed appendix should burst, survival is unlikely unless surgery cleans up the mess. Normally, surgery for appendicitis is a routine procedure, and bad outcomes are very rare.

A mild case of appendicitis may be survivable without treatment; the body has remarkable recuperative properties. But acute appendicitis will kill unless it's treated, usually by surgery.

However, it sounds like your boyfriend is getting the care he needs. Please try to remain calm and if his family needs your support, then be there for each other. Best wishes to all of you.

When my mother was in the hospital my sister the doctor got a few dozen donuts and left them at the nurses station. It is a good way to get to know the staff. Your boyfriend should be fine..:)

Appendicitis is not a fatal condition. If it hasn't burst, he should be fine in short order. It can be more serious if the appendix bursts and peritonitis sets up. As long as it is treated promptly, there should be no problem at all.

Appendicitis is survivable!
If he arrived at the hospital quickly and has a competent doctor .....chances are on his side.
