I gave my two puppies worming medicine I bought at Wal-mart and the older one (about 4 and a half months old) seemed sick immediatly. She started acting lethargic and vomiting. Then the other one-who is around 10 old) started acting sick today (four days later). They both seem to have diarehha and have little energy. I think now it may be parvo. I had a puppy die of the disease when I was in high school and dispite the fact that he'd been vacinatted and was a healthy puppy until then he died after recieving a wk of IV fluids and my mother was given a hugh bill from the vet. I can not afford to have two dogs on IV drips for a wk at a vets office and then have them die anyways. I did get them their shots and we live in an urban area where they are rarely in contact with other dogs. Anybody got any information about what to do.

I was thinking about the fact that it was four days ago when I treated the dogs. The older one got sick almost immediately but the younger one didn't get sick til like twelve hrs ago, so it really couldn't be the worming meds, could it?

ok so the younger puppy seems to be doing better-they are both drinking water on their own and even go to the bathroom outside when I notice their giving me notice that they have to pee soon enough before they have to go or get up. They aren't have so much vomiting or diahreea so long as I don't feed them. They both want to eat but I have read so much so far about parvo and other diseases that effect a dogs stomach that I won't let them eat. Should I. Does this sound like parvo now or is it more likely somthing else.

Well, I can't believe it but the pups both pulled thru what I assume was Parvo. No, I did not take them to the vet although I wish I could have-It is the holidays meaning the only vets available to see were those at the animal hospitals--and I am poor as hell!!! Anyways, I don't really know how they both made it thru the disease if it was parvo, which I am pretty sure it was. Maybe they got a mild form of it if that even exist. Anyways, I am very, very, thankful and will take the care of my pets more seriously from now on.

Yes it could make them that sick! Especially if it was Hartz wormer. It has been know to make pups very sick and in some cases death has happened!

The stuff should be banned from the market. Never give OTC meds to any dog especially if it is any Hartz product.
I see no other thing for you to do but have them vet checked and tell the vet what kind of OTC med you used!

Good luck!

If she isn't eating she has the two a tummy computer virus, somewhat gastroenteritis or a food appropriate digestive disillusioned, they are not continually linked with diahroah or ailment, yet you may desire to be taking action. the two way, you may desire to get her some pepto bismol, kaolin or some thing comparable (dont ever use human grade anti diahroah remedies on canines as some may be poisonous and deadly). Feed her with a bland weight loss plan of chicken/fish and rice for some days and ensure she is eating. If a pup has no longer inebriated something all day, it will be getting dehydrated and could be taken to the vets.

Parvo usually has a certain "smell" (meaning the smell of the feces). It's accompanied by vomiting, lethargy, lack of appetite, and bloody diarrhea.

It makes sense that they are sick from the dewormer you gave them. Never use the stuff they sell in stores, this stuff can be toxic. You need to get them to a Vet, and bring the packaging of the medication if you still have it.

Never trust OTC meds for animals. Take them to the vet! They are suffering! If you love your dogs, money should be no object when it comes to treating them. Most vets offer a payment plan of some type if ppl cant afford to pay the full amount right away. Just letting them suffer is just plain cruel.

Yet another potential case of a person giving OTC products & self medicating....unfortunately to answer your question yes an OTC dewormer could defiantely make your puppy/dog very very ill..just like oTC flea products they have the potential to be fatal.

You need to contact your vet asap this is serious!!!!

Dehydration can kill a puppy in a few days from diarrhea and vomiting. Definitely do not wait and take your dogs to the vet.

OTC wormer Panacur (fenbendazone) is generally safe, but some breeds are noted for allergies to it, collies and border collies, and others. Ther are other wormers, and they may be sensitive to those.

Take your little puppies to the vet today!

Sounds like the pills made them sick. Honestly you should take them to vet.I can't diagonse them nor can any 1 here. When a dog starts vomting its imporant to take them to vet asap cuz you dont know. They coulda easily gotten into something toxic for them.
