The correct answer is that there is no god, and prayers are not answered.
"CHRISTIANS ONLY , UNBELIEVERS WILL BE REPORTED"
Be my guest. Throw in a prayer too, if you want.

A prayer is an act of worship. We can find words that describe prayer in (1Tim.2:1-3,Phil.4:6). Yet, a prayer is not for the benefit of God, but for our own. How can a person face his weaknesses and work on impoving them if he cannot admit his weaknesses exit, thus a prayer is to be a humbling act of reverence. We must expect an answer(Luke11:9-10). But the most important condition of getting answers to prayer requests is to be a follower of God as the prayers of the righteous avails much (James 5:16). God even helps when our prayers are inadequate (Romans 8:26). There are different prayers, supplication(personal request), worship, Intercession, and thanksgivings as expressions of gratitude. I personally believe that God works within the realms of physical law to answer prayer, and only works outside that which he created(NATURE) to confirm new revelations. Rick

God answers prayer in a manner that ultimately brings glory to Him. He isn't the magic gumball machine in the sky that just gives us anything we asked for; the lottery wouldn't be any fun if that was the case. Fasting to bring glory to God, is one thing. Fasting to get a prayer answered isn't going to work...it's that ulterior motive thing...you gotta have an honest heart when you go before The Holy of Holies. By the way, The Big Guy is known to answer the unprayed prayer as well. He is kinda neat like that.

God (not "god"!) answers prayers first and foremost by molding us into His image, and working on areas of our lives that are either inappropriate or unacceptable as a Christian.
Your question implies that you think you can "bribe" God by fasting ("will it increase the chances of him answering") No. You can not "twist God's arm" (so to speak).
Fasting is a good thing, so don't misunderstand what I'm saying here, but fasting to change God's mind just won't cut it, because you're fasting for selfish gain.
Three things the Bible says about asking: "You have not for you ask not", "You have not for you ask amiss, to consume it on your own lusts", and "If we ask according to His will, we know He hears us, and if we know He hears us, we know we have whatever we ask for."
The key here is asking according to God's will.
Since you didn't indicate what, exactly, you ARE praying for, I couldn't say if it was against God's will or not. Remember, when Jesus was in the garden of Gethsemane the night he was betrayed, He asked Father if this cup could be removed, if at all possible, but then He added (and MEANT it), "Never the less, not mine, but Thy will be done." and He also taught us to pray, part of which included "THY Kingdome come, THY will be done in earth as it is in heaven."
So, you need to analyze what it is you're asking God for, and go from there.
God is a loving Father, and if He knows something is bad for us, He won't give it to us even if we ask and plead. And yet He gives us more than we need or ask or hope for if it doesn't violate His will or purpose or Moral Law.
God bless you, and remember, "Seek ye first the Kingdom of God AND HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS, and all these things will be added unto you."

"Ask anything in my name and it shall be given to you". - Jesus John 14:14
There are two kinds of prayers. Prayers for needs and prayers for desires. He always answers prayers for needs. Prayers for desires depends on if you are righteous with God and what it is you are praying for is right with him also. The rest is God's will. Not everything we ask we receive because sometimes God finds something better. He knows what's best for us.
Staying righteous with the Lord is important for special prayers to be answered. If fasting goes along with all the other things you do for him, than that's a good thing. Still, God will answer in his time.

God does not answer prayers.
An answer must relate to a question else it is not an answer (hasn't the infallible doctrine of Yahoo Answers that you seem to think you can use as your whip taught you that?)
If you 'ask' of God and then ascribe any perceived change in your environment that fits your criteria to his 'answer', you are simply deciding what it is that God has done. I'm sure you yourself would support the view that 'God works in mysterious ways'. So if his ways are so mysterious, who are you to decide what it is that he is supposed to have done?
If his answer is by 'faith' how is that an answer to anything?
If you fast I can definitely tell you two things
1.. it wont increase the chance of your prayer being answered
2.. it will increase the chance that you will end up being hungry.
I have read through the Yahoo terms and conditions and community guide lines and in my opinion I have not violated any of these (yet I believe you have by being discriminatory)
So go ahead and report me - if you feel you are morally obliged

Reporting valid answers is worthless. This is a public forum and you can not limit answers nor can you report valid answers that do not violate the guidelines.
So to answer your question, your book teaches you that if you have the faith of a mustard seed, you can say to a mountain, "Move" and it will move (paraphrased). I would also submit that God's answers being "Yes, no, and not now" is not Biblical in the least. Fasting is not a way of convincing God to answer, it is a way to draw closer to him.
Having answered your question in Christian form, no I will tell you the truth: there are no gods. You and you alone are responsible for your actions and you are the only one that can solve your problems. Others can help, but you are the one that must do it.
