Faith is a living energy. We can easily see this in the eyes, smile and even step of a person that has cultivated great faith. Faith must be nourished. It is necessary to feed daily with studying. Studying continues to feed what is already there. It also can plant new seeds of Truth that we have just found. We can water these new seeds and quench the thirst of our existing faith with prayer and meditation. Just as our physical body needs both food and water so does our spiritual body. In the Abrahamic faith God is the Great I Am, this is also true in the dharmic tradition as Tat Tvam Asi (Thou Art That). By realizing this and having it be apart of your faith, readings are no longer the only source of spiritual food. I can now look at most things and say God is that. But, it is true looking. Looking so deeply within an object that I trace back it's history to the point where I can find God in it. This is great joy to be able to look at all things and say I know You. I love the experience of the Eucharist. Where the Bread and Wine become Christ. To me He was always the Bread and Wine, it is just in that moment people awaken to that perspective. At that moment they can feed their faith with living food and water. Why only at that moment? If Christ is the embodiment of God and God is all things, then we should make each meal the Eucharist. Each encounter we have is a communion with God. So to answer your question yes we must daily feed and water our faith. If not it will become stagnate and wither like a fig tree that does not know what it truly is,was, or is to be.

The greats of the world study and asked questions until they died.
I think that God wants you to study the scriptures and keep looking for the answers and spirituality. I don't think you never finish your studies if you have a real interest in the Bible and all great writings.

Life is for learning. We all have lessons and they are learned at the time we need to. Some lessons are harder than others. The lessons are given, faith is tested, wrong ideas are discarded, and people grow up. One never is too old to learn. Many ideas once seen as black and white issues for which there can be no compromise, will be seen in the light of wisdom to be nothing other than legalism and Phariseeism. Peace be with you too.

The very concept of the Sabbath was a day of rest and study.
Can one really stop their studies of the Bible and other related material?
Several years ago one of the twelve Chief Rabbi's of Israel was laying on his death bed. He had studied Torah everyday from the age of twelve. He was now, I believe 87. When asked if He had any regrets he replied only that I will not be able to study Torah anymore.
Regardless of faith and religious beliefs I had to marvel at that man.

As salaamu 'alaikym, my friend.
insha'Allah, Islam teaches one to study throughout one's life time by learning to read and recite the Holy Qur'an correctly, to undserstand what on has read and how to apply the same to his life for his benefit and for the benefit of all others, to study the Sunnah al Hadiths (teachings of the Prophet Muhammad, sallaahu 'alaihi wasalaam) as well as the lived example of the Prophet (saw) and to learn about the original ummah (community) and how the companians (radi Allah anhum) lived Islam.
Often, we do study the revealed scriptures of Judaism and Christianity as well as the teachings of other religions.
Further, Islam promotes education in all areas.
Ma'a salaam

I believe we are in a constant state of learning.
How receptive we are to the lessons is a matter of individuality and personal choice.
Personally I am lead to study certain things.... often a situation will come up in my life that requires research, prayer and meditation.
Life here in the "Earth School" is all about Faith.
That is something none of us will outgrow... and Faith is all about the choices we make.
Blessings to you.

I saw long ago at the age of 17, the total mass confusion of God's word's & man's ability to inter twine theirs & then "poof" God's mind + man's mind = confussion. So I begun to pray for the truth, praying Lord teach me... He showed me where our teacher, comforter, or guide is the Holy Spirit... for some time now I have relyed only on the voice of the Holy Spirit. I am diffrent. Not the only one diffrent, I'm sure. Yes there are preachers, prophets, teachers, there are people called of God to speak the word of God. Some in their character, they speak nothing, and the world see's their light. Do not lean on are own understanding, but God's. The more Christ like we become, closer to God's perfection, we are compelled to put our faith in Him more and more... then we see the hand of God move in our lives. mightyly. Without faith it is impossible to please our living God... Be led in all things. We are going to live forever, the fact of the matter is we will allways be learning, never knowing it all... :) lord, "I put my faith in you, that you will teach me your voice and none other will I follow. Amen." :)
