Its definately a lot more attractive to me than anything in the old testament. I suppose society would be a more understanding place if people did follow these rules. On the other hands you suggested "love your neighbour" and yet some of the responses here are abuse.. I guess some neighbours just don't want to be loved.

I think these are the greatest commandments, but certainly there are 8 more. Better to follow all of them and make sure we go to Heaven! + Jesus loves us all and no matter what you did wrong in life.........if at that last second before you die..............you call out His name.........He will answer. He loves and died for all of us. Remember when He died on the cross the criminal to His right asked Jesus to remember Him and He did. The other one no doubt went to hell! If we follow these two commandments, then certainly the rest of them would fall into that category for without these two..............we wouldn't certainly be greater sinners. It gives us pause to obey all the others when we honor Him. +

Correct. Part of the point is that man is not born with this level of love; it takes God placing His Spirit within a man to accomplish this.

John 4:15-16
“If you love me, keep my commandments. And I will pray the Father and He shall give you another Comforter that he may abide for you forever.”
Muslim theologians have said that “another Comforter” is Muhammad, the Messenger of Allah; and him to “abide forever” means the perpetuity of his laws and way of life and the Book (Qur’an), which was revealed, to him.

If we keep those two commandments all the others would be kept too. I think that is why Jesus gave those two to us. If we truly keep those it covers all others. God bless.

Yes Christ Himself said the entire law was included in those two.

Nope. I've done that. I came to Atheism while in bible college - kicking and screaming every inch of the way. I didn't WANT to disbelieve.
I think there is one great commandment: hurt no living thing

Do you love your neighbour as yourself out of a fear of punishment in the form of Hell or do you love your neighbour because you are a Mummy's Boy or do you love your neighbour because you have been pre-conditioned by a society that inflicts its 'moral standard' upon your feeble little mind?
