I like Nero and Roxio. Sonic is good too. You see, many of these COME with your burner, and are configured to work best with that. So before you try another, make sure that you have the original disk, so you can reinstall that to get your burner working better again.
Here are the features that I like.
- Burn an image that SPANS disks. Roxio Creative Classic does this well.
- Be able to set the BURN speed. Roxio & Nero does this easily. You see, I might be using fast CD-R media, but you always get a better BURN if you burn a CD at a slower speed. I often take the time to slow it down to 4X. DVDs are also more reliable when you burn at a slower speed.
But I now use Nero 7 Essentials for my DVD drive. It has everything that I need, and I am finally used to it. Sometimes I still use the Roxio Disk Copier when I need just one quick copy.
Good luck and Happy Computing!

The simple answer is that both are very good burning programs. However over the years Nero has evolved into an advanced and some now say bloated burning program. There is however no doubting its quality, hence the strong support shown here.Turning our focus to Ashampoo, this is a smaller program and does not contain some of the advanced features of Nero. However for the average user ,all the boxes are ticked.Infact CNET editor awards the program 5 stars and recommends for normal burning use.I have used both programs and to be quite honest I cannot detect any difference in quality. So the final choice is down to price and intended usage.I would say try Ashampoo and if you like it,job sorted. If you do not then move on to Nero,Which ever you choose, will produce an excellent finished product.Good luck!!

Ive only ever used Nero - Have done for years - works fine, does everything I need it to - Although I think it could be made a little more user friendly.
