Please state if you are military or civilian. I would also like to know if you have been to Iraq and returned, has the experience effected how you interact and deal with Muslims today. Mature answers please?

Note to those who will answer from here on out...please answer the question. I said Muslims. Please don't act like I'm just saying people at random and dodge the question. If you're not going to address the question directly, there are 100's more on this site you can sidestep.

Retired USAF MSgt, Operation DESERT SHIELD, SOUTHERN WATCH and NORTHERN WATCH.
My opinion of Muslims is generally favorable and was not changed by the attacks of 11 September 2001. That was no more representative of Islam in general than Jim Jones or the unrest in Northern Ireland were representative of Christianity. In any religion you will find fringe elements who will pursue their own ends under the cloak of their supposed faith.

They are some of the warmest, nicest people I've ever known. I was treated respectfully and warmly on a business trip to Dubai prior to 9-11 and just recently. I've also been to Jordan within the last 2 months and again I had nothing but pleasant experiences. My colleagues at work who are Muslim are also wonderful. Really, I don't care about which faith people are, people are just people.
One can not doubt however there is a small percentage of Muslims that are nothing but murderous animals. My Muslim friends do not consider them to be real Muslims.

Before 9-11 i thought they where very peaceful, cultured, but not without their share of idiots that take things out of context for their own purposes (Could say the same for almost every religion.)
After 9-11 my view of them hasn't changed much. I will say that i have learned alot more about them, particularly the islamic based governments. I'm glad we have a seperation of church and state here. Countries like Iran and Saudi Arabia enforce laws on their people (Women particularly) that makes me sick.
Military. Army. Been there. I treat Muslims like i would treat anyone else. Treating someone diffrently because of a religion or origin is lame.

I'm Retired Military and have never been to the Middle East.
My impressions of Islam before and after the events of 9-11 were pretty much the same. The events of 9-11 were nothing new, except they were the most successful attempt of the murderous hatred displayed by Islam. There have been hundreds (if not thousands) of murderous attacks on both Islamic and people of other faiths for a very long time.
The "Peaceful religion of Islam" is only peaceful if you practice the same "Brand" of Islam of a potential murderer. The trouble is there are a couple versions of Islam and they continue to murder each other as well as people of other faiths.
My impression....? Islam is a religion of murdering innocent Men Women and Children....
Islam is the worship of Satan.
How's that...? Clear enough?

I'm a AF Vet, but was in the Far east. How I deal with people on a one on one basis is no different today than it was before 9/11. However I do have a natural prejudice against those that march and carry signs that state they want me dead.

I agree with "PrancingLion" who said this "My impression....? Islam is a religion of murdering innocent Men Women and Children....
Islam is the worship of Satan."
My view of islam and muslims is the same before and after 9/11 I despise the majority of them, I know a few who are decent, but the majority scratch the surface and underneath you find someone who even if they do not admit think they are the only ones who follow a true religion when in fact they follow a false one. (I do not follow any religion, so before you liberals jump on your soap box, stow it)
