I don't actually kiss the feet of Jesus because they are in Heaven with the rest of Him. I metaphorically kiss His feet because I wish I was face-to-face with Him so that I could actually kiss His actual feet.
We Catholics don't worship idols. It's forbidden. We have sacred art that reminds us to pray and worship, but we aren't worshiping the objects themselves; we are worshiping the Lord. I could look at you kneeling down before your Christmas tree and placing presents under it and accuse you of being a druid, but only because I can't see your heart. And I could watch you stare at your television for hours and accuse you of idolizing TV, but only because I can't see your heart. You can't see our hearts so you can't tell that we are worshiping the Lord and Him alone, but that's what we are doing.
We don't worship Mary.
There is no proof that Mary was a sinner. None of her sins are recorded in the Bible or anywhere else. We Catholics believe that Mary was saved from all sin by the Blood of Jesus at the beginning of her life (the Immaculate Conception) to prepare her for the role of being the mother of Jesus. Imagine if she was still a sinner, what that would have done to her! The pride, the selfishness of having the Lord for your son! I'm glad Jesus saved her (and all the rest of us) from experience that.
I trust my salvation to Christ entirely. I trust Him to be merciful, just, and loving. I know He died for my sins. I think it's perfectly okay to leave the question of my salvation entirely in His hands. I do not have any need for more than that.
We Catholics believe that we are saved through faith, same as you. We do NOT believe that we can "work" our way to heaven. We believe getting us to heaven is Jesus' job.
However, the Bible says to "work out your salvation with fear and trembling" and to "shoulder one another's burdens." For that reason, we practice works as an outpouring of our faith. Get it? Our works come out of our faith -- they don't substitute faith.
You don't know much about Catholics if you think our church doesn't haven't truth. We preach Christ crucified for our sins, same as you.

Do you have pictures of your loved ones? Have you ever looked at the picture of someone while talking on the phone to them?
Statues and pictures of people we love are not idols.
Statues and paintings of Jesus and the saints are just like pictures of the people we love and respect.
The King James Version of the Bible states in Exodus 20:4: "Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth"
Why were the Jews commanded not to make graven images? Graven images were the standard method of pagan worship. They were representations of false gods.
This is a very clear command.
However God commanded the Jews in Exodus 25:18 and 1 Chronicles 28:18–19, "And thou shalt make two cherubims of gold, of beaten work shalt thou make them"
And in 1 Kings chapter 7 Solomon made bulls and other images out of precious metals.
It seems obvious that the Jews did not worship the cherubims and Solomon did not worship the bulls he had made. These images did not violate the command of God. Therefore, an image not made for worship is acceptable.
In Numbers 21:8-9, "And the LORD said to Moses, "Make a saraph and mount it on a pole, and if anyone who has been bitten looks at it, he will recover." Moses accordingly made a bronze serpent and mounted it on a pole, and whenever anyone who had been bitten by a serpent looked at the bronze serpent, he recovered."
And in John 3:14-15, Jesus says in correlation, "And just as Moses lifted up the [image of a] serpent in the desert, so must the Son of Man be lifted up, so that everyone who believes in him may have eternal life."
How can a statue of our Lord Jesus Christ dead on the cross be considered an idol to a false god? A crucifix is the message of the Gospel without words held up for all to see, a visual reminder of the sacrifice of Jesus, no different from a painting, a play, or a movie.
How can a nativity set set up in your house to constantly remind you and teach your children of God's love for use be idolotry?
Catholics do not worship statues but the almighty God, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
With love in Christ.

Let's all get together on Judgment Day and see if your warped ideas about Catholicism pan out.
Until then, I suggest you continue to search for the bible verses that command anyone to write either the old testament or the new testament of the bible, or that give the bible (or anyone/anything else) power or authority superceding that which Jesus Christ personally gave to the Catholic Church alone.
You might also go back and trace the origins of your peculiar faith tradition, because it's certain that Jesus never had anything to do with it.
Also, ask yourself this question, regarding the Blessed Virgin Mary:
If you were God, and Mary was destined to become your mother, and you intended to become man through her, in order to destroy Satan's evil dominion of sin and death, exactly how long would you allow Satan to have his way with her .. which is essentially what SIN is all about?
Then what would you do ... because as a result of your mother's sin ... even being conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit ... you would still be born of sinful flesh, like any other man ... subject to the devil himself ... and no longer qualified to be a holy redeemer?
I'm sorry you're jealous of our beautiful Catholic church buildings, which are constructed to reflect the fact that the real presence of Jesus Christ, alive and glorious ... dwells within them ... body, blood, soul, and divinity.
As for the truth ... do you really think you could identify the truth if it came down from heaven and sat on your head?
May God grant you all the desires of your heart!

confident, i'm a working in the direction of Catholic. I do experience undesirable whilst, at Christmas and Easter, all those "two times a 300 and sixty 5 days" Catholics come out - yet then I understand that it could desire to be worse. it could desire to ok be achievable they do no longer come out in any respect. that's easy for somebody, who attends Church a week, to bypass to Mass on Christmas, Easter, and Holy Days of criminal accountability. I regularly ask your self merely how plenty greater problematical it is for people, who do no longer attend Mass generally, to get out and bypass to Mass some time in line with 3 hundred and sixty 5 days. we gained't think of it, because of the fact all of us understand what we'd be lacking. i do no longer think of those "two times a 300 and sixty 5 days" varieties can totally savour what it is they are lacking. in the event that they did, that they had be at Mass greater beneficial than two times a 300 and sixty 5 days. i'm proud to be Catholic, so that's all the greater disappointing as quickly as I see people taking an "oh hum: physique of ideas in the direction of their vocation as lay Catholics. All we can truly do approximately it is pray, and want that they occasion we set will, sometime, motivate them to start residing the Catholic existence-form all 3 hundred and sixty 5 days around.

A) For the umpty-bajillionth time, we kiss the feet of statues of Our Lord as a show of respect and adoration. NOT for the statue you dolt, for the Lord God, the Son.
B) We do NOT worship Mary, the Mother of God. She's our mother, you nitwit, given to us at the Cross by Christ Himself through John the Beloved. Whatever YOUR relationship with your mother, we Catholics LOVE ours! And we treat her with respect. After all, God thought enough of her to make her the Mother of His Son, the Second Person of the Blessed Trinity! Would you really want Jesus, a nice Jewish boy, ticked off at you because you treated His mother so badly? If so, be my guest. We Catholics will pray for you, because you are gonna NEED those prayers!
C) Hellooo! Follow your own advice! Read Hebrews. Faith without works is DEAD. And just how is a dead faith gonna bring you home to God?
D) Your ignorant rant is a prime example of listening to anti-Catholic BS and swallowing it whole, then passing it the same way as an eaten meal; spewing it over others with total disregard for the truth. Said truth would make you free, but obviously you prefer the chains of lies and ignorance. Have a nice slavery.

I really hope you'll get yourself a good education before you accuse anyone of such things and remain in ignorance. are you aware that we don't worship anyone other than the Holy Trinity; the God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit? well, obviously you are not. you just listen to rumors and you accept them as facts. pitiful.
I love your answer Granny Annie!
edit: very well put, Lucky!

quite agree. If someone would enlighten me I woudl really like that, Last time I checked the bible it says in John 14:6
Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father EXCEPT THOUGH ME." (NIV) Not Mary or Joseph or anyone human else. And Romans 11:6 also says " But if it is by grace (His unmerited favor and graciousness), it is no longer conditioned on works or anything men have done. Otherwise, grace would no longer be grace [it would be meaningless]. "(AMP)
Also was it not Christ that died and Christ that God sent? John 3:16?

Great answers here (kudos to St. B and others); just wonder why questioner would ask in such an unChristian, uncharitable manner? Are you truly interested in knowing and understanding other Christians, such as Catholics? Catholic Christians love the Lord deeply and fervently and strive to follow him wholeheartedly and with life-giving dedication. Jesus prayed that one day we would all be one, so let's work at understanding and dialog.
The Lord is very immediately present to us, as i hope he is to you, too! We have a keen awareness of Him and his presence. So, when a Catholic kisses the feet of Jesus in carved image or kisses his face in a painting or kisses the Holy Bible and His beautiful Word, we are not worshipping the paper and ink in the Bible or the canvas and oils and brushstrokes of the painting or the wood and varnish of a carved image of Christ. He is so real, He is with us, so that we are really kissing him. Kissing his very living (dabar) word. Kissing his loving heart. He knows this. He is spiritual and understands this. He knows our hearts. He can see beyond the surface, as i hope you learn to also do.
Also, to add to the info on Mary, please read Luke 1:48 (KJV to assuage your fears) where Mary says in her magnificat: "...and all ages will call me blessed."
Let's have the same love for each other, and for His mother, as Jesus had. He loved his mommy! That is what it is about. We honor her as Our Lord's mother and her special place in God's plan of salvation for all of us. You don't have to go pray (talk) to Mary, and not all Catholics do, but why not talk to Our Lord's mum?
Also, a common misunderstanding arises about what prayer is. Yes, prayer directed towards the Lord is at times worship, praise, adoration, thanksgiving, or petition - but it is primarily at it's core 'heart prayer': a heart to heart communication.
We also believe we can pray for anyone, just as you may pray in your churches for soldiers in Irag, someone sick and needing prayer, etc.
We believe we are linked spiritually and can pray (talk) to the saints and Mary and ask them to pray for us. We are not 'worshipping' Mary or looking at her as a Mediator as Jesus is our mediator. We are looking at her as a pray-er for us (just as i ask you to pray for me and i will pray for you). Someone to spiritually be a friend and a mother to me as she was a mother to my Lord and brother, Jesus.
Please let go of these ridiculous, false, comical things you have heard someone ignorantly spew about Catholics. It is said that the last 'ok' prejudice to openly spew in this country is against Catholic faith and it is time to stop that nonsense.
Remember, any friend of Jesus' is a friend of mine. i hope you are, too.

Apparently you are ignorant about the Catholic religion. You read the Bible without understanding. That is understandable since you are separated from the Body of Christ.
You must be a fundie cultist who believes that only you are saved. In truth you are acting as an agent of Satan in spreading hatred through lies.
