I haven't dated a girl since my sophmore year of high school, as I decided to focus on school. Now I'm in college, and finding it easier than high school in most aspects. I knew this girl from my high school that goes to my college, but I never thought much about her. After her boyfriend broke up with her we have begun to hang out more, and she talks to me often. Now that I've gotten to know her a lot better, I can't stop thinking about her. I want to ask her out, but she is still sad about her ex boyfriend. She always talks about him to me, telling me how much she misses him. I also feel as if she is "too good" for me, I don't have a lot of confidence in dating matters. She's told me that another guy told her how he felt about her and tried to ask her out but she nicely refused, telling me that she did not really want a boyfriend at the moment. What should I do? I don't want to make her choose between my friendship and a relationship but I don't want to miss my chance to ask her out.

Yes you should ask her out. Just tell her, you don't have to use my exact words though, "I like you and I know that you don't want a boyfriend at the moment ,but I'm wondering if we could go and hangout as friends sometime".

Definitely ask her out. Don't miss your chance! Don't concentrate on what she told to another guy. Be brave, confident and at the same time caring. Girls like such boys.

you could politely say you totally respect the fact she does
not want a boyfriend, but you would like to ask her out simply
as a friend, something or someplace she would feel
totally comfortable with. good luck.
