I guess God will judge a person's heart.
I'm not worried about anyone else's judgment. That's like the leaves on the wind to me. Besides, if you don't try it, how will you know whether it's good or bad? Catholics aren't the only ones to recite the rosary. DATTEBAYO!!!
(I'm sorry that "dattebayo" was totally uncalled for.)
here's an excerpt from the link below
"At an early date among the monastic orders the practice had established itself not only of offering Masses, but of saying vocal prayers as a suffrage for their deceased brethren. For this purpose the private recitation of the 150 psalms, or of 50 psalms, the third part, was constantly enjoined. Already in A. D. 800 we learn from the compact between St. Gall and Reichenau ("Mon. Germ. Hist.: Confrat.", Piper, 140) that for each deceased brother all the priests should say one Mass and also fifty psalms."
further to, you probably don't know this, but Jesus was in the practice of daily recitation of the 150 psalms. He was in the middle of one while He hung on the cross... ("My God, My God....why have you abandoned me?")
"Vain repetition" to me is prayer (any prayer) without thought or preparation.

A rosary is a "device" used to keep track of a series of prayers or mantras. One prayer one bead.
In the catholic rosary you give an entire revolution to the rosary, each rosary is divided in five "mysteries" each on counts as a part of the journey of jesus. If i remember correctly, which part is told is dictated by a sort of calendar. Each mystery consists of one lords prayer, 10 ave mary's and a glory. After that some prayers are said, another bunch of ave mary's and finally a litany.
It's every bit as boring as it sounds or maybe worse.
It takes an average1-2 hours.

Your verse from Matthew refers to pagans, praying incessantly to powerless, false gods.
Look a little closer, and you'll find Jesus telling us to pray without ceasing, just as the women continued to petition the corrupt judge ... and to believe that our prayers will be effective.
The Rosary is an extended length prayer, designed to enhance meditation, and bring all who make use of it closer to God, in every way.
Don't knock it until you've tried it.

Mary is the lovely Mother of the World. She is the beautiful Queen of Heaven. Now the sweetest gift that a person gives to a mother and a queen is a bouquet of flowers.Mary, since that first Christmas, has been wonderfully good to all her children. So we love to give her Roses. Since she is in Heaven,it is hard to give her roses from our gardens.Always we can give her our Rosary,a beautiful bouquet of prayers .
Like all the great saints,Saint Dominic deeply loved God's Mother ,Mary. He dedicated his splendid Priests, The Dominicans, to her. He wanted them to pray to her,to think of her,to recall the wonderful life of Jesus and Mary.Mary gave him a string of beads like a necklace. She taught him how to use it. She asked him to give it to the World.

It's a device. And it is not vain repetitions, it's a memory device to help you grow in your prayer life. Or I suppose you can just rap off the Apostle's creed right here and now?
And actually, many Protestants recite the rosary.

it's called chanting just as Jesus told us not to do, do you know any religions that chant. Jesus said go to the Father(God) through your Redeemer Jesus Christ.
I don't want to mock anyone but read all the books of the bible. To understand Jesus. People are willing to learn but are being taught lies. Jesus fulfilled the Law , he didn't destroy it. The curtain was rent know man stands between God and us. Jesus is our redeemer he paid for your sins. Put away the high hats and the scarlet gowns, know chanting for redemption, know towels on the ground if you pray publicly you have your reward of everybody seeing you. Go secretly to God through Jesus Christ to be rewarded openly.
Don't chant a remembered pray talk to your Father , He loves you he gave his only begotten Son for you.
