beating people over the head, mainly see in martial art movie. Maybe you've seen it in a Bruce Lee movie. it's actually not that reliable cause when you actually hit someone, it'll come back at you so you gota be pretty experience. Is not about all the fancy spin and stuff that just for show, when is use in actual fight it'll just look like a street brawl. A weapon all girl should carry in their purse is a butterfly knife (some state law these are legal).

They were originally used for seperating rice from their stalk. As time went on people started using them as weapons. The idea of using Nunchucks was then increased when Bruce Lee started using them in his movies. There is also Freestyle Nunchucking where do the Bruce Lee thing.

The Nunchaku is NOT used the way Bruce used them.
That's something he learned from Dan Inosantos, who applied Filipino concepts to the Nunchaku.
It originally was part of the horses bridle. The rope or leather went into the horse's mouth. It wasn't even shaped the way it currently is. I believe the word means "restraint".
It is used like a flexible Jo. Intended for trapping and striking. There are swinging strikes but it is not primarily used that way.
The techniques are balanced between blocking, trapping, deflecting, choking, etc.
It requires a high level of proficiency, but when mastered, is unstoppable.

They were also used as a farm tool, I believe they were used to knock down weeds or crops.
