Murder might not be the appropriate term.

Wisconsin last month- deputy sheriff/ part time municipal officer killed some former high school associates- 4?- at party. Milwaukee policewoman convicted of killing husbands ex-wife 15 (?)years back recently released after escape and recharge. Chicago police officer named Washington accused of contract killings some years back. These are murder charged cases- do you mean something else by 'Murder'? .

When a police officer must shoot and gravely injure or kill another human being in the line of duty, that officer must live with that split-second decision for life. He/she must look that person's loved ones in the eye and have the images of their faces burned in his/her memory and conscious forever. It is an unpleasant, ugly reality, but it can be part of a police officer's job. Weapons are not hanging from a police officer's uniform just to accessorize it. They are a matter of survival. The percentage of people who have been needlessly murdered by police is so small compared to the number of people who have been killed by a police officer who just wanted to go home from work that night that it is mind-blowing.

None. They (the police) just get Paul K or Rick F to sit on them.

I don't have statistics, but very few are "murdered". Most are killed by officers who are representative of the rule of law and have been given the power up to deadly force in defense of themselves or a third party, in the course of enforcing the law. If you consider some drug dealer etc... who pulls a gun on a cop and gets shot because of it, no rational person would consider that murder.
Yeah, I'm a cop, and yes, I get my nose out of joint when I think someone is accusing myself or my fellow officers of something like murder because we defend ourselves from some very violent people. Ask my wife what it's like to have a husband that comes home every shift with a new set of bruises or cuts from a fight, or having to fight the impulse to crawl into a bottle to try and forget something they saw on duty. Or what it's like to wait for a phone call every time a cop gets killed hoping it will be me calling to say "It's not me", but dreading the possibility of a Chief and a Chaplain pulling up in front of our house with "the news".
I may be misreading the intent of your question, and if so, I'm sorry. If not, please consider my comments.

It happens a lot in third world countries. Often, the police are worse criminals than the "bad guys".

Even one is too many my friend. Police need to take this responsibility with the heart of God and only take a life as a last resort. I really don't think "threatening" should do it. I think they should have to witness the person actually hurt someone.
